Extra fuel

Hey guys, I was wondering how much more fuel the Pro uses after its turbo is installed. I was thinking of the Trail tank rather than hauling exrta fuel. But then on the other hand on a short day you would have the opprotunity to leave the Jerry can behind. I guess my biggest concern would be if I am going to be having to take it easy in the afternoon so I can conserve fuel?

I like the fuel capacity of my TT on the IQ chassis. I'm not sure I likes the 40 pounds it adds. It is noticeable when trying to get it unstuck.

I guess I am really looking for how much extra fuel are the turbos using? Answers from actual owners. I rode with a guy last year with a M8 Turbo who was pouring in his jerry can at 2 hours into the ride and by noon he was taking it easy so he could go the rest of the day. But I also rode with some turbo guys last year that didn't seem to have any problems with fuel.

Has anybody used a trail tank in the mountains? Are they good when climbing or going down steep grades? Any help here would be good. Thumbs up or thumbs down?

I am using a rotopax setup. Holds 3 gallons of fuel, the mount utilizes the tunnel channel design polaris has. This way you can choose not to bring fuel or bring it and keep a nice narrow feel to it with the stock tank. Plus the rotopax keeps the fuel long and low against the tunnel.

HRP sells a nice rack that holds a wedco 10l jug perfect and I found a matrix race can that is 20l that also fits in there very nicely

I also use the Rotopax system, 2 - 2 Gal packs, if its a short day I just carry 1. As mentioned before the lay low and along the tunnel, I get a ton of questions about them when I out on the sled.

Do you have a link to that 20L can that fits the hrp rack??... i wouldnt mind little extra fuel on those long rides.

Just ordered up
Mountain addiction fuel rack with 2 small jugs. Jugs come in any color I got orange. And it mounts using the factory track system

Mountain Addiction

I ran a 2011 Turbo Pro last year with the Mtn Addiction fuel can setup. I think it is a 3.3 Gal tank (choice of colors or dual smaller cans). The cans slide onto dovetail rails that mount directly to your tunnle T-Slots. No straps, bungees or other crap. Can't say enough about this setup! Anyhow, I dump my fuel in as soon as I have room, so I'm not carrying the extra weight behind me. Never ran out of fuel last season, and I only remember having to take it easy on the way back to the trailer, once last season (4' plus of fresh day that I was WOT all day). Plus when you know you got a short riding day, all you have on your sled is 2 little plastic rails on your tunnel.

Here's some pics of it on my sled

I carried my 2 gallon jug around all last year and never used it. The sled with the turbo would still easily go over 100Km's of hard riding. By then I am tired out. Not saying you should not carry gas, everyone should in the alpine, but just that the mileage never changed drastically.

I also use the mountain addiction set up( 2 small Cans). For this year I was thinking about carrying 1 with staright AV or race gas and the other with non-ethanol premium . this giving me some versatility. Say your having a problem with detonation then add staight AV/race or blend or ??? makes sense maybe .
