Extra Belt???

My '09 Polaris RMK 800 did not come with an extra belt. I selected not to get the $500 in accessories and had that price taken off the top of the bill.

I havent purchased a new sled in the past 12 years. I have bought several new sleds in the past and never paid full retail and got all the dealers to throw in a spare belt and a cover on each purchase. 71 ski doo, 73 ski doo, 80 ski doo, 82 yamaha, 89 yamaha, and 97 ski doo.

I see from reading on this forum that some belts are quite expensive now and some sled models seem to eat a lot of them.

My 08 Yamaha Nytro didn't. Think it was $60 extra or something.

My dealer in Island park offers a ready to ride package......

i think i paid 200 bucks on my 09 and it comes with spare belt, 2 plugs, full of gas and oil, and they also dial the clutching and suspension settings based on your riding style and weight

It's not standard, if you get the 2nd, you paid for it whether you realized it or not.

ive sold all my sleds with extra belts and covers that was stupid i with i still had my old cover. my sled did come with an extra belt but your right i probably did pay for it somewhere

I asked my 72 yr old Dad about this "free extra belt" theory. He told me this:

In the fall of 1973, he went to the local Ski-Doo dealer and purchased 2 brand-new T'nT 440's and a new trailer to haul them. When he went to pick up the new sleds, they had custom painted Mike & Fay on the hoods of each respective sled, plus new riding gear (incl 2 helmets) from head to toe for both, good covers, spare plugs & belts, and a 2 season supply of 2-stroke oil.

He showed me the check stub when we were in his office the other day.......cut them a check for $1458.00 Can. All it says on the Bill of Sale is 2 sleds and a trailer. He said there were so many manufacturers then that the big guys were giving away stuff just to buy thier sleds.

Spare belts back then were an automatic "Gimme" with a new sled. You needed a 6 pack of belts just to get through the fall season and into January!!

Flash to fall 2008: Buy a new sled......bend over before you ask them for a free new belt
