Alright, I am still not set on what width I am going with but, I am pretty set on going with 159 but, have some questions.. sled is an 02 summit 800 151"

Ready?

What is the tallest lug I can go without running into problems? What pitch can I go with? Will I need to do drop brackets? Will I need to do some clutch work? anything else? lol. Thank you.

You can run a 2.5, if you go to 7 tooth 3.0 pitch drivers. You will need drop brackets if you are doing a setback. Clutch work depends on how well it is set up now. If you go with to 2.5 you might want to regear, if your sled still has stock gears. Get rid of the stock secondary & put a Team or a HCX on it. My .02

same thing.

i was going to do the same thing to my zx, but now im parting it out.

I have a 2"x159"x15" challenger for cheap. 1 missing lug. $200obo (cnd)
Also i have a hymark roller secondary for cheap to. $200obo (cnd)

i have extrovert drivers too, same as stock but extros.

Also have the plates to do the setback. not cut out yet though.

If I stay with a 2" will I still be able to use my stock drivers and gears? (yes, everything is stock.. gears, drivers and clutch) I dont think I will do a setback though..yet. Thanks !

'02 is already set back

2-1/4" will fit with stock 9 tooth 2.52 drivers.

Git new rails for the 159 from Ice Age. Won't break the bank over the cost of extensions, and I assume a set of extensions for that little of difference would involve cutting the current rails - leaving them worthless w'o the extension. This way you will be able to sell the old rails - or keep for in case...

I HIGHLY recommend extros! Whether you go with 9 tooth 2.52 or 7 tooth 3.0 drivers. Either way - go extro! That skid ratchets terrible! Also - 15 tooth chain and top gear are a worthwhile investment too. Or Hyvo - but you'll hafta buy a bottom gear too then.

Won't need "drop" brackets, but you would likely hafta move the snowflap and hanger back a bit. (Tunnel extension.)

Just going to a 15x2 or 16x2 (if they make such a thing.) Challanger will be a major improvement if your still sporting the stock track!

I would still HIGHLY recommend only a fully clipped track and ponying up for the extros!

Change the chain at the VERY LEAST!

extro

im with ox on that you would regret not putting extros on being you have the axle out allready, ratcheting would really ruin your day with the extra load from the new track. i bought some from wahl bros for around 75$. but changing the driver size is like regearing.

Changing drivers is like regearing only with some negative side affects. Forcing the track around a smaller diameter robs power. Isn't that why people say big wheel kits are so great. Second it takes 1 tooth away from being in contact with the track to drive it. I would never put smaller drivers on. I would rather drop and roll the case to gain clearence and gear down the case. 19:45

Depends whats out there that people recommend? :) should I need to?

I ran a 162x16x2.5 and trimmed about 1/8th-1/4 off the track with 3.0 7 tooth drivers. no gearing changes. after 2 seasons i had no rub marks on tunnel. I still have track, rear brackets (wildchild), rail extensions, and drivers on the shaft if interested.

I didn't say enything aboot changing driver sizes.

If you stick to 2-2-1/4" lug - you should be able to stick with 9 tooth drives.

I get my extros from Wahl too.

Not sure where I was buying gears? Dennis Kirk I think. ??? I am sure that is where I was git'n my chain, so I am pretty sure I was git'n my gears there too. (It's been 2 yrs since I bought the last set - memory is fading I guess?) If you go to the 15 wide - you need to flip the bottom gear as I remember. This will keep the chain from rubbing the inner case wall. And I have hardly ever had any rub on either side of the case in however many yrs now.

I am hoping to put the 16 x 2-1/4" (I think it's only 2-1/4"?) track that I bought two yrs ago now - on my Zx and I have a 7 tooth 3" pitch for that - and it will gear you down slightly, but not nearly as much as going from an 9 tooth to 8 tooth in 2.52 pitch.

Pretty sure I will stay with the 159x15x2 track and run extros. I dont really want to dump a lot of money into this sled as I dont plan on running it for more than two years but, we'll see. My next question will be what is recommended for clutching? Should, i get a clutch kit?

appreciate the replies!!!!!!

You would want to at least buy new stock springs as the stockers would be getting weak and out of spec by now.

extros??

What exactly are extros and what do they do? Are they only useful on something like this or would they help on a stock 01 summit 700?
