extend warranty our not

My one year factory warranty is over on Dec 20 2011 I checked with the dealer where I purchased it they said 1700 for 48 months of warranty does that sound about right? Not sure what to do only triune I have had is a broken church spring fixed under warranty last year asked dealer if I could add a PA head and can that would would instantly void all warranty. Looking for some decision making help anybody need major work on their PRO and were glad they had the warrenty? It has 430 miles on it and will not see much action this year. Thanks for your input.

thats a lot of money.....seems like you should be able to get 48 months for like $1000 or so. For $1700 you could put that towards a BB kit.

just a FYI cost on a 4 year to dealer is aprox 500 bucks, so 1700's way out of line. Most sell for the 800-1100 range.

I don't trust them.

OUCH! I agree. That seems excessive. My cynical take on this is 12 out of the 48 months are already gone. It only covers the motor and I believe there is a deductible. I would do a little more home work. These warranty's were not designed in our favor.:face-icon-small-con

^^actually the 48 months is another 48 not the 12 that was already used...also most aftermarket warrantys are bumper to bumper no questions, unlike the Po's power train warranty deal. And most aftermarket company's are much easier to deal than Po it self.

I think a warranty on the Pro is a really good idea. There is a ton of mark up in warranties, at least 50% so negotiate and try different dealers to see where the best price is. I got the 4 year on my 2012 as part of the snowcheck and am glad i did.

Just got my 12 Pro yesterday, traded in the 11, Got the 36 month Polaris Star warranty for $500, $50 deductible. For the money I would rather have the warranty then not...

I received a letter from Polaris with an offer to get the 48 month warranty for $1500 a 60 Month for $1800. I was thinking of getting it only because I haven't had any problems with my 11 yet and I have a couple buddies that had injector failures and I am expecting that sooner than later mine will fail. I have to check to see what it would cost me to have the injectors replaced without warranty before I pay for the warranty. If its only $500 to replace injectors I'll take the chance and not pay the $1500.

$1700 sounds like retail, offer $1k or $1200, all the dealer can say is no.
Try calling other dealers to get a number to compare against.

Have you ever popped an engine where piston chunks went thru the bottom of the cases? costs alot more than $1700 to replace the engine. I have!

Stone

Know what you mean stone I am the proud owner of two 04 edges I bought a 48 month transferable bumper two bumper for 1500 its third party the polaris was 1740 and tax. Thanks for all the input

The extended waranty is threw Polaris but not from Polaris. It is way eaisier to get stuff threw. . Now if your customer came to you and said hey I want this product that costs you say 900.00 and i know retail is 1800.00 but since you will be getting full price from the company how about taking less, say a 300.00 mark up. would you take it? I would and do all the time. 300.00 for a mouse clik is good money . IMO If you want pm and I'll do it.
