Explain the Burandt Boards

So it looks like they are identical to the standard boards other than being powdercoated, but when you add them to your snowcheck they are expensive! The picture of the boards on the snowcheck site show a black vinyl tunnel wrap. Is that part of the snowcheck, or just false advertising? Are the boards literally identical other than powdercoat and they cost like 2-300 bucks?

from reading the polaris website explanation of them, they are the same as the stockers, but with wider bars across the centers, and power coated black

for my money, i'll save the $200 and put it toard an aftermarket set if im not happy with the stockers

The vinyl you see on the side of the tunnel is part of the Burandt signiture wrap. This would be serparate from the boards.

Well that's bogus. 200 dollars for powdercoating? I think I'll get the stockers and have them powdercoated for 40 bucks? I can't tell if they are riveted in or if they are glued. Also a little bummed by the color options on the skis. The white ones look sweet, but if I need to pay 300 plus dollars for stock skis that are white, I'll just get powder pros.

The Burandt boards have wider cross bars. The boards are riveted between the tunnel and the outer rail.

IMO from riding the '13, the outer rail is VERY stiff...I personally prefer the thinner cross bars for better snow elimination (disclaimer...they didn't have any of the Burandt boards on the demo '13 sleds, so this is just an educated guess).

They are probably stronger because of the bars being wider/closer together.

The 13 boards are riveted on and easy to remove. From a very reliable source who works for Polaris(so I won't name him here) he told me the tubular boards are still much better. At least we don't have to cut up our new sleds to put them on. Very easy install now.

My dealer told me the burandt boards are supposed to be replacements for the '11 & '12 boards, not neccessarily a heavier-duty version of the stock '13 boards

Which ones are the tubular boards? Skinz?

Yup. I have them on a couple sleds now. Work so well you wonder why there are any other styles to buy. I have better boards on my Freeride(Skinz doesn't make them for the Freeride) and they are better than stock but nothing like the Skinz Airframes. Light, strong and work really really well.

Cutting up my tunnel makes me nervous. I wonder if my dealer would be capable of installing these...

Skinz Airframes. Light, strong, work well, never in stock, cant order anywhere, get them in about 2 seasons... :face-icon-small-con

Buradnt boards are powdercoated and thicker on the cross section. Made for the "heavier" peeps and those who like to jump a lot. Anybody who demoed the 13 sled in powder would know that spending $400 on air frames for this sled is an absolute waste of money. Better to spend that on a pipe or head and get a little more HP out of the motor...

Seriously, it's nothing to cut the stock boards off and install the airframes and very worth the effort to have them.

yep...'nuff said!!

I would hope they are ANODIZED and not powder coated. If they are indeed powder coated; the baking process would take the temper out making them weaker than the raw aluminum stockers and pounds heavier also . In Mountain horse's accessory thread they were touted as anodized or E-coated.

As far as pipes and cans go; according to the dyno sheets I've seen posted, only the Dynoport does indeed make an increase.

i've had my airframes for about 2 season now. best mod i've ever done to any sled. the new running boards look to be very nice and it will probably be tuff to justify the cost of the airframes. but the airframes will still work slightly better. looks like it will be real easy to swap the airframes onto the 13 and the new boards over to the '11. but i won't know until i can get a better look.

i don't care what the dyno numbers say, the slp pipe works just as well. two 2011s with 12.5:1 head one with a dynoport pipe, one with slp pipe. they run pretty much identical. both make significant improvements.

So if you order the Burandt boards during snow check, are they like ordering different color skis or side panels? You get the original boards as well and have to install (or dealer installs) the black boards?
