Question for the guys with expandable side decks, how are they holding up? Would you buy it again or get a solid deck? Looking at a year old silverlake what are your guys opinions on those.

Thanks Nick

DUNNO YET

just bought one yesterday. there are a few things i dont care for, but looks to be a solid deck. mike was a great guy in person. time will tell i guess.

SLM

I bought a silverlake. a couple things i dont like about it are one its kinda short. just loaded a 144" ac and it hangs off quite a bit (the deck is only 8') but i guess thats how most of them are unless you get a beavertail. 2) the ramp is heavy and pretty awkward to handle especially with one person. 3) there isn't a lock for the ramp when traveling, easilly fixed, but i would think the ramp should be secured. I asked him what was up with that and he said that it will be held in by the tailgate if it slides back:noidea:. the tie downs are kinda cheesy, but im gonna put on superclamps anyway. the deck itself had been sitting in the weather so the plywood shows signs of weathering. things i do like are the superglides = super nice, the ramp angle is fair to negotiate, the led's are trick, especially the SLM logo in the middle with the hidden LED to light it up, the expandable sides seem to work well, he uses the tie downs when not in use, to secure the sides, which i guess helps keep them from rattling. overall looks to be a pretty nice setup, i am going to add a set of lights on the headache rack for loading at night, some lights under the deck to see the cargo at night, and a round trailer plug to connect the deck led's and cargo lights to the truck.

I also have the same deck. I love mine but I do agree that the ramp is heavy and awkward. I cut an angle at the end of the ramp where it hooks onto the deck and made it much easier to mount. I had to move the two UHMW slides back a couple of inches.

If I had to do it all over again I would definitely buy the expandable sides model. It is so much easier for parking and looks way better IMO when it is not being used to haul two machines. If I were to buy a new one today I would buy the new Marathon Deck that mounts to your box sides and seals for a full waterproof box cover. Expensive though in comparison to SLM. For the price SLM has a great deck!

Thanks for the replys guys now I just gotta save the cash. That logo looks pretty cool with the light.

Silverlake. The prob I have is getting the ramp on without having to lift the sled. Fix is screwed 3 2x6 to the deck to hold sled track higher. Way easier on and off. I've had mine 3 years. I replaced the ramp slides with plastic bedliner cause they started to break. Mine in the expandable sides. You can load quad from the side also with the 1 inch rails. Ramp locks in 2 pins.
