Exhaust temp sensor

My M1 has a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. What can happen if I keep riding my sled while im waiting for the new sensor.

I can ohm out my sensor and tell you what i get then you can go down to radio shack and get the right resistor then cut the wires on your old sensor and wire the resistor in and you can go riding.

There is a thread about this somewhere but you could PM Hatchers. He knows what resistor to replace the sensor with.

I had one go out on an M6 this year, I actually did not notice any difference in performance, and either did my wife. When we changed it out I will say the throttle response felt a little crisper. We rode 200 miles that weekend it went bad and had no issues. The one we replaced it with was new from the dealer and went bad after 1 day, I ordered another one and it worked fine so far.

If it bothers you, put the resistor in.

There is another thread on this subject ! Same thing has happened to my sled a couple of weeks ago. Scoured the forms and came across the info about installing a 480 ohm resistor to fool the computer into thinking everything is all good. It did work for me but just make sure that your engine operating temp. is hot or at normal operating temp. You can run the sled with Code 17 flashing and all that happens is engine runs rich and it may even retard the timing as does a Polaris sled. Most of this info I got on this sight but I am a sled mechanic and have not had very much to do with Arctic Cat until now. Very good info on almost every Cat repair or modification.

Put a resistor in it in the mean time. It will not run right with the 17 code flashing and the biggest problem is making a big pull and have it go into full rich just when you need the power.

When you get your new pipe temp sensor BE SURE TO ZIP TIE THE WIRE BACK ONTO ITSELF. The M1000s vibrate so bad at idle that it will shake the wires apart inside the sheath without this dampening aid.
