exhaust temp ranges?

Hey guys, just installed a koso dual egt gauge, and wondering what the operating temps should be. In particular the max temp before piston damage. Is it 1150 f? The instructions are a little vague. Thanks!!

I had a digatron dual on my old nine and had 1200+ even saw the occational low 1300's from time to time.
1150 won't melt anything for sure.

My probes where in the Y-pipe. Temp might change a lot based on probe placement though..

i am JUST starting to play with my Digitron Dual EGTs...finally messed with them for the first time yesterday, so i have little to bring to the table..

but the lower the temps, could mean Lean as well..

i was running 980ish at WOT at one point, and upwards to 1200 at other points...depends on load of coarse, but hopefully i will learn it quick and have some inputs for you..

but lots of others out there know im sure...so im just rambling really, lol

EGT temps

I have the 08 800 BD PG turboed dragon, I have the KOSO egt temp gauges. I have mine tune in and it is about 1275 degrees, sometimes just over 1300. Doesn't seem to hurt it. Just last weekend I had it up to 11 psi boost with 100 percent av gas and it was just over 1300. Still pulling hard. My cousin has the same sled. When his fuel filter was plugging up and was leaning it out his egt's went up to 1440 once. After when it was apart for the top end up date the pistons looked good.

so sounds like it's safe to say 1175-1200 is the max zone, just to be safe. What kind of temps are you running just idling, or riding down the trail? Just trying to get a better understanding of the temp ranges. Thanks.

Mine idled around 400. It would fluctuate quite a bit up/down and had around 25-50 split.

Cruising down the trail, light throttle @ 5-5500 rpm it was also 1100+.
I think that was a bit much but it would pull down mountains with mid-range torque so I didn't play with the Boondocker-box to bring it down either.

It had the SLP performance edition package plus porting fwiw...

temp

the temp will depend on the distance the probes are mounted from the pistons. 1250 is a good temp if they are mounted in the right spot. Had a 700 with them mounted wrong ran it at 1300 to 1400 all the time to get to run good. Mounted them in the right spot and they ran at 1150 to 1250. Exhaust probes are good once you know what temp you are running with good piston wash then use that as a base line
