Exhaust System comparisons and clutching

Put a new Dynoport Exhaust system in this summer in my 2011 Pro, Y-pipe, pipe, and Big Core Barker. Also I used the SLP clutch kit for 8000 ft+, and I have to say that it made my sled a WHOLE NEW MACHINE! WOW IT RIPS NOW! The only problem I am having is the primary is causing some belt squeal and always pulls on the belt. A guy I was riding with last week out in Laramie in the Snowy Range said its the MTX weights, that its a typical problem with them, and i would have to have my clutch sent off to be worked on. Anybody else had this problem? can i just go to a different brand of weights? or will that change my rpms also because im assuming the weights are slightly different shape. The primary came with a Blue/Pink Spring.

The MTX weights have a slightly taller heel which causes the belt to sheave clearance to tighten up. You can first try loosing up your deflection on your secondary, or your second option is to re-shim your primary clutch which involves quite a bit of work. The spider needs to be removed and a shim removed to get more clearance. But first try adjusting your belt deflection and see if you can get the squeal to go away.

Go to a dealer and get them to reshim your primary to 10 thousands clearance. They have the tools and it does not take very long but then you should always run SLP weights or you will have too much belt clearance with other weights.

EPI belly busters are closest to the stock 10's for shimming, from what I've seen. When swapping weights from different mfgs, always smart to check belt clearance right away, with the same belt.

Thunder Products has their ABC cover that allows you to adjust clearance without removing the spider, more popular on the cats, with their bushing and bolt issues, also.
