Like most everyone else with a new pro, Last year my sled would get atleast 3 -4 tanks of fuel to a tank of oil. In other words, about a quart to 10 gal of fuel. This year immediately after my dealer did the oil line reroute, I now go through over 2 quarts to 10 gals!!! I questioned him as to wether or not they had turned up my oiler on me. He said they had not so I had them check it over since it was not leaking out anywhere. He found no reason for it to be using so much oil. Well, went for a ride on Friday burned better then a quart of oil to 5 gals of fuel.
I just got out of the garage and have found that my oiler is sticking wide open and will not return back to the idle position without "helping" it. Sticks totally wide open. Was running so much oil through it that it was plugging up the exhaust valve seleniod to where my exhaust valves would not open. I had to pull the lines and just plug them off to get full power/rpm out of it.
Now, do I drop this off at the same local dealer, Or drive 6 hours one way to a decent reliable shop? Either way, I'm gonna be screwed for the rest of the holidays. I have tried spraying both ends down with brake cleaner followed by wd-40 to try to get things to free up. It doest feel that tight, just slightly more than what the spring will pull back. Don't know at this point if it's a bad spring issue, bad pump (obviously pumps well) or what?
I hope this helps someone else out should your oil consumption suddenly go through the roof and/or your exhaust valves start sticking shut.
