Everybody's cutting more holes and putting vents in, I'm just like......

I just scooped a few lbs of frozen water from my exhaust side. I don't have any vents in, just a mountainfit hole cover for one of the stupid gaping open spaces made for cooling off sleds while racing on frozen lakes at 300mph.

I get the gorilla tape thing that's next. But does anyone make any more 'hole covers' for the giant open spaces that I'm certain lets in the majority of nature? Everyone sells expensive vent kits, I just want to cover things. I'm pretty sure 'air flow' isn't a problem right now.

I've got the frog skinz covers for the hood slots too but after 4 hours of riding yesterday (and I shlt you not) there was a strip of snow right under each one sitting on the inside of the 'covers'. It was like the frog skinz was acting as a wind fence on I-80 in the BFE parts of wyoming.

How do you rocky moutain cold snow poof riders keep that stuff out? I'm not talking about the little seams between panels, I mean the big dumb holes that Cat intentionally put on these things.

Buy new intake side metal vent, flip inside out and water proof heat tape or e6000 glue with clamps for curing onto side panels. Can zip tie pet screen from home depot onto toe kicks as well. The top of hood openings I use frogzskins.

On my 13 RR I used black silicone to seal up all the holes in the ski well area. There are a ton, not to mention the huge gaps at the top of the shocks. Also have all the "vents" FrogSkinz'd up. Still get a bit of ice on the exhaust side but nowhere near as bad as it was before. Could try to block off the foot wells to prevent you from pushing in snow.

I got frogskins over the two long seems where the hood panels and intake meet and just used pet screen on the big hole above the can. Never had any issues with this setup. I just installed the new Cat skinny boards with the more open footwells though, so I'll have to see if that will increase the under hood snow.

That's part of my problem. I put the narrow b&m boards on and sucking in the panels opened up the existing seams a little more at the bottom of the main/removable sides. And yeah, plus the footwells. I just couldn't believe how much snow is making it past the frogskinz I already do have on there.

Any of you guys run a bead of silicone on one side of the plastic for some of the seams? I'm picturing gaskets..... I'm wondering if it would stick enough to work.

The big one by the can is kinda dumb they didnt screen it but i was watching it scoop in powder, melt on muffler, and disappear. made me think about how the aftermarket cans gonna leave a nice chunk of real estate for snow to chill in. guess ill screen it when that time comes.
what have you done with the clutch side panel vents? i noticed the pipe melting the plastic around the shock tower a little so i drilled holes in the upper vent so heat could escape and it seemed to help. at least these sleds still run good even with a little snow in there....

Buy new intake side metal vent,

You talking about the silver screen that blocks the clutch vent? Can't picture what you mean.

First I took off the air duct that points snow right on the clutches. I'm looking for some covers because those wire screens don't do squat. I'll probably just back them with some frog skinz screen.

I'm trying to find someone who sells just this, and not part of a whole expensive vent kit that I don't want.

No the metal one above that. The same hole on the other side panel that Cat leaves a gaping hole in

Gotcha.

I got some mountainfit vent covers for those. It looks like the screen backing you're talking about still needs to happen though.

cat country sells just that

Derp. I didn't even think to look for arctic cat branded stuff. Thanks!
