Our group ( 7 guys ) rides ski-doos 04thru08 and we never had any magor problem sleds are very strong most of them stock exept cans I have xp 800 x163 and this is my third skidoo it is little bit different handling but I like it alot and I have no belt problem as well but hand warmers wentout so diler will replace them thats all so far ,we put around 1500 each year mountain miles:face-icon-small-coo

The 08's had neoprene insulator under the hot grips--when they get twisted or torqued on the neoprene tore and allowed the heater element to short out--Doo has the fix out already. simple fix--they just needed a insulator because of the aluminum bars and they chose the wrong product the first time.

I have 2 freinds that had over 4000mi on their 07 800's last year and just had to get the clutching right and they ran great all year--no probs.

First 60 miles on an xp 154 today and my only complant is that my feet hurt. I forgot what it feels like to break in a new pair of performance boots. (HMK Pro Boa Focus) It kind of reminded me of the old days and my ski racing boots waiting to pack out a hair! :D

Sled is awsome and I can't wait till the next ride to break 100 miles. NO belt issues (bone stock out of the box) ony change is I turned up the shocks!

Had my 07 X (bought slightly used) out for the 2nd time yesterday and it's an *** kicker....hps can, vented clutch side, risers, updates, yada yada. Cool clutches, runs crisp, good on fuel, great handling, had to ride 20 miles of whoops to get up....very smooth in the bumps.

Sleds blowing up/giving you problems is always in the back of your mind....face it, they're all crap for reliability compared to any other piece of equipment.

Say what you will, my 07, even with the "bad" clutch yanks a stock M1000 until speeds get to non-mountain sled levels....not ripping on others, I like em all. M8 wouldn't even be a race.

Rode mine for four days in 1 to 2-1/2ft of pow and craaaap it rips.
clutches were a bit hot though after couple pulls in a row but nothing abnormal. Rpm's are right there and it does not miss a beat.

LMAO!! Well said Jay! You're going to worry about it no matter what! It's called a tow rope, make sure you got one and forget about the rest of it. There's nothing that can't be fixed with a little green, some time and some ingenuity. I hope you didn't get into sledding cuz u thought it was going to be a cheap winter pasttime! LOL this ain't 1974.......

Multiply how much you worry about breaking things by 4 times and that is how much us mod riders worry! LOL! I have my hood open more than it is closed some days! But when she's hot....she's hot! Suckin' gas and haulin' azz baby.
