Ethanol --- its so amazing

I'm pretty sure ethanol is the reason for 8 turbo burn downs in one weekend in McCall. Guys running exact same #'s as last year, and burn down this year, kinda odd if you ask me.

OMG... are you serious. So many of the pump gas turbos are running so far on the ragged edge that any touch of bad fuel and boom.

Mafesto......

Good post. My dad worked part time in one of the first ethanol plants. They would spike his tank right out of the plant... we are talking 30 years ago. My dad loved it at the time. His power and fuel economy went up.

We run it in everything. Cars, trucks, boats, mowers, ect.... and never had a problem.

Most people against ethonal are uneducated about it. Most also associate ethanol as only E85. Which yes drops fuel economy, but in the end it pencils out to be about equal with regular fuel.

The food price argument is a joke. The USDA projects a surplus in the billions of bushels of corn this year. Blame someone else for your cost of corn flakes.

Maybe you should actually do a little research before you spew such crap....

ethanol was a terrible thought and an even worse idea. its not a sustainable reusable fuel and has much less energy than the same amount of gasoline. about 30-40% to be precise. in the end your burning somebody's food.

well I don't like corn based ethanol, relook at your facts. Ethanol can be an incredibily sustainable fuel.....got algea?

Someone on Dootalk had an interesting theory involving Skidoo carb boots, he claimed that the delamination of the carb boots is caused by ethanol working from the inside of the boots. I cannot say if this could be true or not but I have never used ethanol in any of our 6 sleds and so far have not had any problems with carb boots either.

I started running E-10 in the early 90's, in vehicles at 1st, but eventually in every thing, toys & all starting with a '94 ZR, 8 ski doos, 3 Sea Doo's, a 60 Mercury outboard, 2 polaris & an RX1.
Guess how many problems I had...............Zero!

Let me correct myself, I would have some idling problems in a '95 Jeep 4.0 on extremely hot days (vapor locking). Not bad, but annoying enough that I would not run E-10 in that rig in the dead of summer.

I know for a FACT that mechanics use the use of ethanol as a scapegoat when the could not figure out just what the problem is.

The old saying holds true.....
