Escape mild mod questions

I am slipping a 01 800 in an 03 escape chassis I picked up. Have a couple questions...

I have heard I will need to use the VES engine carb boots because of angles, is that true? I want to run a factory Edge/Escape air box. (when I find one...)

Should I do anything to the chassis wile I have the motor out still?

How about a good place to buy good quality mesh hood vents for an Edge?

I did the same switch. The angle is definitely an issue. Since I didn't have a set of VES carb boots lying around, I put on a set of single carb covers. I knew going into it, I would be taking in warm air, but to get it up and running, it was the quickest fix. I also had to build a mount for the coil and ecu.

The other thing I noticed was the front motor mount were shorter than the stock edge mounts. I am going to try the edge boys first, the if needed, put the taller front mounts on.

hey I am doing damn near the same swap but mine is a 98 700 into an edge. So far I have had to use the VES carb boots, if you are running the miki flatslides. the VES boot have a different angle than the old ones(if you don't use the right boots with the right carbs it will not run right!). changed the water pump housing(I think it was just because it was a wedge motor. If I remember correctly you water pump should exit correctly for that chassis. Change the obligitory front motor mount:face-icon-small-con.and redrill my SLP airbox for the older coil. ecu had to modify the mount. but so far it has been easy, well that is except for trying to find time to work on it!:face-icon-small-fro

Thanks guys. I scored an escape air box and a set of edge carb boots yesterday. It's amazing the difference the boots made. Didn't get the air box or carbs mounted because I was playing with coolant hoses. The front cooler on the escape has 2 outlets, and the 01 chassis the motor came out of only had 1 in and 1 out. Took me a while, but after looking at photos on line I think I have it figured out. :face-icon-small-coo

Anybody know why Polaris went away from the small coolant bypass hose that went from under the T-stat housing to the return neck of the water pump?

It has to do with holding the carbs at the right angle (fuel in bowl level) and also intake length and making sure that the intake tract is sealed up good.

Yeah I guess I should have explained it better:face-icon-small-ton Thanks sled_guy for picking up that ball I dropped on that one.LOL:bounce:

Thanks guys, I should have stated my response better. I was thinking running the edge boots would work correctly because the carb angle with them looks to be the same as the stock gen 2 setup in the 01 chassis.
