My sled threw a CEL and shut itself off on me yesterday. After a couple of minutes it fired back up and the light went away after driving 150'. Sled was running fine. An hour or so later it came back and shut itself down again. Would not restart. After 15 minutes or so it started again and the light stayed on while I limped back to the truck. Fired it back up when I got home to check the code: 520335-5. Looking at the manual the code is for 'EV Actuator Driver', but it doesn't list a FMI for 5. All the other 5's are 'Driver Circuit Open or Grounded.'

I went out this morning to investigate. CEL was gone. Sled runs fine on the deck. I can't find any bad wires or connectors related or unrelated to the EV actuator.

Anybody else see this?

I've got over 1k miles on the sled and it's ran perfectly until yesterday. Nothing but VES oil has been used.

I've been getting that code on and off. Also other exhaust valve codes. It goes away if I fumble with and squeeze the connector leading to the exhaust valve actuator. We have seen a lot of problems so far with the harness connectors failing to make continuity, the exhaust valve connections and the 4-pin injector harness connector in particular.

We are applying dielectric grease and zip ties to every harness connector under the hood this week.

Our other axys 800 died yesterday for no reason and wouldnt start until I zip tied the large 8-pin connector connector under the hood very tight.

A friend of mine is having this exact same problem, he's had it in 3 times for warranty, and it keeps happening.

Are you running the stock exhaust system?

He had an aftermarket can with a built in cooker when it would do it.
Dealer suggest putting stock can back on just to see and it ran fine with out codes for 3 rides. He than bought the SLP can ran it this weekend, and the code came back.

Hopefully this doesnt come off wrong but I really think that is just a coincidence. These codes with the valves, the PWM converter, valve positions...should not be affected by backpressure. If you take a very good look at the connectors, you'll notice that the back of the connector where the weather-pak goes in..doesn't apply pressure well. The harness connectors themselves are loose, poor quality and it is causing a lot of problems for a lot of people.

I can make these codes come and go just by playing with the connectors while the sled is on a stand idling or running.

Nah it didnt come off wrong, I was actually going to say the same thing in that it being all a coincidence.

Sounds like they cheaped out on the wiring harness again, voltage regulator 2009 all over again.

Both axys shop sleds are getting the full dielectric grease and zip tie treatment on every single connector in the engine bay this week.

i had that code come up on mine at about 300 miles. took it to the dealer and they found the capacitor that controls the exhaust valve actuator was shot. my check engine light was on constant and the sled wouldn't go over 5000 rpm without falling on its face. dealer took one out of a unit on the showroom floor and had me on my way same day. said it is an $80 part, but of course warranty covered it.

FWIW; Most all the Delphi Weather Pack Connectors have a safety lock that you can get for them to ensure they can not separate when you don't want them to.

I provide them with the SpeedoHealers I sell, just for the extra piece of mind and they are only a few cents each. Depending on the quality of Tye wraps you are using, that may be a better option and the safety locks are reusable and service friendly.

I assumed from his description they were Delphi weather pack connectors. If they are not, then I misspoke.

So I rode 60 miles yesterday and on way back home CEL came on and I stopped to check description and it showed nothing (I have the digital gauge). Shut off and restarted. Stayed off for a min then on again..repeated process several times and same issue. RPM would not go above 6500 ish while light was on.

Is this related to the ex. Valve issues in this thread or is it dealer visit time?

Talked to a guy that owns a rental fleet on how the axys is running and he said this is the only problem he's seeing with these. They way I understood what he said its some nut on the ev cable is over torqued pinching the cable and taking out capacitors.

EV Cable?

I had the same thing happen yesterday, I have fancy gauge and an exhaust valve code came up but it died before I could read the whole thing, something about actuator motor not reaching proper position. Towed it home because it would not restart, got it in the shop and fired right back up and no codes on the display, wondering what you guys think, if this is the poor connectors in the harness or something else, going o take them apart tomarrow and grease and zip tie, then take it for rip to see what happens.

520335-3 and the light came on half way through my ride. not letting the sled over 6500rpm. I limped it home put it in the shop and the next morning it fired up with no codes. I will re check the plugs for the power valves again and grease them along with the relay mentioned above. Should I get a capacitor coming from my dealer? I don't want to screw over another ride.

Sled has 600 miles on it and 500 miles with a turbo. My tps was out and I had idle issues also. I'm getting frustrated with the axys and these little issues. I don't mind self inflicted issues as a result from modification but these ones bother me.

My closest and best dealer is 3 hrs away so any other tips you guys have would be appreciated.
