Engine Removal 06 900

The easiest way to get at the bleed screw is to remove the exhaust pipe, and the intake plenum, then you will be able to get a screwdriver at it.

As far as the oil goes.... its a judgement call on your part.
Just imagine...... if your oil pump gets air-locked on your first ride... the only oil she's going to get is from what you mix the tank at. I mix my first tank after an engine installation at about 50/1 but I only fill it half full. Bring spare spark plugs!

X2

I put a pint in the first tank, then fill it up......Then I always run 1 oz of oil to 1 gal of fuel as a premix.
Never fouled a plug all year. :)

I'm glad that there are guys on here like this that will be able to help with any questions that I may come up with when I pull mine:becky:

air in oil lines

I also R&I'd my engine this summer and replaced the mounts and of course cleaned and maintained everything....as im completing the final installation at this point I have noticed there a couple of noticable bubbles next to the connection by the crank seal. ( i have bled the engine from the bleed screw already)you guys recommend popping that line loose and trying to bleed it out or is it just no thing for that particular line in the big picture
? ( The coat hangar trick is cool and i will use it!)(will also premix)
Also my main man rmk 2112 gave me a (polzinhunter chaincase cover??) and i will be installing that, you guys that have one , what torque spec do you reccomend to seat the rubber gasket properly. Thanks in advance.

Any bubbles in any of the lines is unacceptable if you ask me! Use the coat hanger trick to try and work them out, if they just seem to keep re-appearing you most likely have a leak.
Are you using VES Gold oil by chance? There has been more than a few discussions about VES having a tendency to bubble.

Yes I am another guy who mixes a pint in with every tank. Gotta make sure those rings are getting enough lube!

When I have the bleed screw open, I put my mouth on a rag and blow into to oil reservoir to push the oil out under a little bit of pressure. Seems to always push the bubble down and thru the bleeder nut.

Dip your finger in the SCL and run it around the gasket before installing the chaincase cover. I have never torqued those screws down, just snugged them up good. You don't wanna strip out the tiny cast threads in the case.
