Engine oil??????

I run Royal Purple 5w-30. Any true synthetic like Mobil 1 will work great IMO. Synthetic oils are resilient, and not prone to breaking down like conventional oil, which is why with a good low micron bypass filter you can run a true synthetic almost indefinetly, like they do in many big rigs exc.

The only reason they still make 30 w oils is because people still buy it. lol 40 w is a way better oil. We have a guy in his 70's that works "for fun" for our oil supplier for gas plant equipment, he used to work for two of the biggest oil companies in the world blending many of the oils we use today, he said the best oil to use would be Mobil 15w50, they use it in race cars, since we need to cold start our sleds, he recommends using Mobil 0w40 or Esso Xd3 0w40. BTW one of those two puts the oil in the Yamaha Jug. They are the only two I run in any of my motors. Somebody told me that Amsoil doesnt catch on fire, has anyone else heard this ??

The 2 reasons that I dont like automotive synthetic'soils are
Automotive oils were never made to work in 10,000rpm engines, foaming can be a problem
that other is the starter clutch, I have seen damage done it's expensive and a PITA
having said that I know a few guys that have been running Mobil 1 for a long time so ? Go figure.

I like Motul
