engine mounts

Anyone changing out the stock engine mounts for a urethane type aftermarket mount. Thinking about being proactive and doing it to my 13 just curious if it is worth doing. Thanks

I thought the shop selling the urethane mounts are no longer offering them. I haven't personally talked to them about it, just what I read on here.

I think the urethane were problematic and are no longer being made.
Your best bet would be stock mounts with a torque arm and a push arm.

What kind of problems? I have the Boost-it mounts and haven't had any problems but I also noticed they are not selling them anymore

Don't quote me but I think they were to stiff causing something to break.
Which I think was the engine strap bolt. Not 100%

It was the motor mount bolts that we're breaking, had 4 break on 2 different occasions and a real beotch to get out.

Motor Mounts

I just looked at my front mounts on my 13 pro. Pto side is compressed really bad at about 7 o'clock. Mag side is getting that way at about the same spot. Sled has 300 miles on it and been all stock til 2 weeks ago. Just installed a Silber/BD and now going to pull off to get the mounts changed out. Sure wish I would have looked closer before hearing about this.
Better to check than to start blowing belts. The bolts are fine....the rubber extrusion is compressed in the sleeve.
I thought I read on somewhere of some better ones than stock. Anyone know?
300 miles on a stock sled doesn't cut it.

The word I got from Boost-it was:

He was having customers claim they were too hard and were breaking bolts so he was recommending customers not install more than two of his mounts. He was considering molding them in a softer compound. But with the mold he had made for the mounts they could not mold them in a softer compound without tooling a new mold. Sounds like he decided it was not worth the money. He is making a torque arm instead though.

I have not ripped into mine yet but TRS started a good thread about how to align your engine and claimed the straps are not drilled exactly right causing undue stress in the mounts. From memory he recommended oversizing the engine bolt holes to 1/2" and install the engine to the straps loosely. Re-install the engine and align it. then tighten the engine to engine strap bolts.

For more detail search for his original step by step post, your engine mounts will last longer if you start with them in their natural / unstressed location.

On my last year sled, I installed Boost-it mounts and enlarged the bolts that went through the strap into the engine case. Worked great.
This year I have the arm Boost-it is building, if it works out great, if not going back to what I had last year. Once you do the 1/2 bolts and the solid bushings there is no more problems.
