Engagement Ring Questions

Just want to know if anybody on the forum has purchased an engagement ring online? If so was the ring what the website claimed it to be.

Call Sharp. He bought his online and got a pretty nice one. Don't recall the name of the place, but it was appraised higher than what he paid for it, got a really good deal on it.

Go check out Schumacher's Jeff, they have a lot of nice stuff there and can at least get you started...(where I got mine from.)

don't you have a wal-mart in your town
helzberg diamonds is the place to go

We got my hubby's wedding band online. It was a good transaction, good quality band too.

We did it the old fashioned way. We went to a jewelry store together and we picked one out. She got the ring she wanted and I actually had fun being part of the process. Of course, my part was paying for it.

i remember going into this one store in vegas called tiffanys and her trying on a nice ring... then i looked at the price tag... 500K... i told her to take it off before she breathed on it...

why not try and get your local jeweler to match the online price you find?

oh and make sure you get a return policy on it... just in case :(

Engagement ring? I'm warning you, sooner or later, if you buy her one of those she's going to want to get married! What are you thinking?

I am not too worried I have been with same girl for 6 years now and I am ready. Not sure how much longer she will wait around if I don't move to the next step.

You think Obama will take away your freedom, just wait and see what a wife dose. You're screwed man! Don't do it!
Single guy = street bikes, dirt bikes, sled, jet ski, hot chicks
Married guy= responsibility, no stuff, same old cracker!

Heard that the blue nile place online was a good store to go through.

One of the advantedges of buying local is the resizing issue, had to have mine done 4 times before it fit and it was free due to buying the ring there. Just something to think about.

Hmm, think it really works more along the lines of this-

married guy= built in sledding partner, double the amount of toys, another pay check, half the amount of chores...

your ring

hey I'm a jeweler here in utah, we own a family owned and operated business called woods jewelry. if you are shopping online try to stay away from a diamond that is not certified, because without it by law they can say whatever they want and you can really get it handed to ya. only accept a GIA certificate or a EGL USA certificate, with a serial number engraved on the diamond that matches the cert. that way you know exactly what you are getting. also make sure you ask if the diamond has NO flouresence, if it has flouresence it will look milky. and ask for the grade on the symetry and cut, these are the things people don't ask.

I would avoid buying something like that online....not because of quality concerns, but the minute she finds out you got it online, it's going to get her thinking.....Why didn't he take the time to pick one out in person? Am I not worth the time? Was it a last minute decision? Is he just being cheap?....trust me! The mind of a women will read something into this and the outcome will not be good. Go to a few stores, take her along to get an idea of what she likes, buy a nice ring. :beer;;)

I got my diamond from BlueNile.com and was VERY happy. It was a very high quality diamond for an exceptional price. You can pick whatEVER you want with them. They have an incredible inventory. You can pick the exact clarity, color, quality, size, cut, etc. They give detailed descriptions of the stones. You can pick just the stone like we did and have a local jeweler put it in a setting or buy the settings from them as well. We had the certificate and diamond checked out by local jewelers we trusted and everything was perfect and as presented.

Even Nate was impressed :D This picture doesn't show the fire and colors in it, but it's the best I got.

(P.S. My husband and I sled together and I buy my own sleds and "let him" buy whatever sled stuff he wants - so he thinks it was well worth the investment :-)
