Enclosed Trailer Wall Dropped!!??

I have a 07 Cargo Mate SnowBird enclosed trailer its a 16 footer with a 4 foot v nose.
Last week I went to Revy and while on the highway there I hit some big unmarked frost heaves on the highway.

When I got to the parking lot to unload i noticed that the floor in the trailer was pushed up the wall maybe 6 inches.

When I climbed underneath it looked like the axles had broke on one side.I had just had both axles replaced and thought they had rubber in the torsion axle had broke.

I took it back to the place that had done the axles and today they have called me to inform me that their axles were fine and that the wall on that side of the trailer had collapsed and that the whole enclosed structure had dropped and broke all the crossmembers on that side.

Has anyoone else ever heard of this happening or had this happen to their trailer?
I paid over 11,000 for this trailer with the the extra insulation and am wondering what the life expectancy of a enclosed trailer should be.
I wash and maintain it after every trip......I will post some pictures later on,I have to go where it is being looked at.

Holy Cow... I've NEVER heard of anything like that....

Did the back door still open and close properly?

The door is fine, everything is square....all the ribs on the right hand side have all dropped so as you look at the trailer it is all tilted.

Salt, snow, moisture, freezing and thawing, and that calcium junk they spray on the roads don't get along with STEEL. Sad news for sure and sorry it happened to you >>>>.

x2!

I'd like to see some pictures. I'm assuming it's a steel trailer? How old is it?

Frame rail is suppossed to be straight

This was broken for awhile. Sucks that it happened to a newer trailer.

I was thinking the same thing,it looks old but the trailer shop where my trailer is at thinks that is fresh, when you walk in the trailer the gap spreads wider.
I do hope my insurance covers it!!!

I don't know about Canada, but in the U.S., it would all have to be "Fresh" from a accident "Pot hole" for insurance to cover it. Let's hope for you that the adjuster agrees with the repair shop.

It got dragged to Revelstoke and then back to Calgary in winter conditions, its covered in dirt and road grime....I do hope the adjuster agrees, she may not even climb under there to look.

Our roads up here are brutal on trucks and trailers as well. Often times we end up airborne with the whole rig over frost heaves that werent there yesterday, or the ones you flat forget about. That's why Im running a 24' carhauler for an enclosed. The trailer is heavier to pull, but will hold up better to the abuse they see here. Same goes for boat trailers. No such thing as over kill on trailer axles. Far too many are sold with too light of trailer for the loads and roads we pull them on. Dealers trying to keep a package deal cheaper priced. Costs you more in the long run in repairs! Good luck with the insurance.
