Enclosed gooseneck trailer

A friend of mine was at St. Anthony sand dunes in Idaho and saw a big fancy enclosed gooseneck trailer that said DEMO on the side. He said it was pretty much an enclosed car/snowmobile trailer. The cool thing was that it has a drive out door that had the hinges mounted flat on the bottom but the actual door was at an angle so when you dropped it, the door was angled but the hole leaving the door was flush with the sides. My next trailer will be a gooseneck so hopefully someone gets it right.

Problems with side forward out doors on gooseneck setups is that you must have significant extra space to make the out on the side of a trailer with a sled. If you have 4 long track sleds stuffed in 24 feet of floor space you can't get the first one out at that angle. The out angle side/forward requires half the width of the trailer open to make the corner and leave.

In todays world all the sleds have reverse (or should)...we just back right on out easy cheesy. On the race sleds that didn't have reverse we put a wheel under the track and hike the ski tips up so the sled rests on only the ski backs instead of carbides and out they slide.

I love my gooseneck trailer for sled hauling and now that sleds have reverse there is no reason to own a bumper pull v nose trailer. Longer length and wasted space!

That is a BA trailer and EXACTLY what I would want!

Are these even for sale? I went to their website and all it is is horse trailers and standard enclosed toy haulers.

This trailer is sweet, would like to get some info on options.

Call Shane @ Trails West and tell him Wup sent you and you are interested in the Goose. The more interest he gets the faster they will go into production. I will give more picts and info. In a couple weeks and when I get on a real puter instead of my mobile

yes! details details details!!! how much is one of these trails west goosenecks gonna set a guy back?

Thanks for posting the pictures. That is a sweet trailer. I will have to give him a call. I Want one and put a 50 gallon nurse tank for fuel in the nose, so I don't have to trip over all the sleds. I could just fill them up on the hill.

Trailer

That is a very nice trailer well built. I put a front door in mine just in case we had a none reverse sled and i might use it once or twice a year. I also put a big enough man door that I can take a sled out of it.

Trails West RPM Gooseneck

I work at Trails West and am also snowmobiler. We have a lot of guys here who ride, so the design of the trailer was heavily influence by people who use them. The trailer you see is a proto and was tested last winter. It retailed for around $18,000 + or - ???, but it had some really nice options like heat ducted through the floor which exits through vents right under the sled tracks. If you have questions please call Trails West at 208-852-2200 and talk to Shane or Mike. We would love to build more of these gooseneck trailers.

I have used my Trails West RPM 20' bumper pull for one season and love it. I pull it with a 2009 Jeep Rubicon (2 door). I equipped the Jeep with a brake control and I use a weight distributing hitch. The Jeep V-6 has no problems pulling it with 2 sleds and all my gear.

Where are the pics of the trailer loaded? I looked through this trailer in Preston last year and absolutely loved it. We stepped it off several times trying to decide whether you can get five sleds into it by loading in the front, facing the sleds to the rear. Very curious to see how they sit inside.

I will try to get them today, got it home and loaded from the rear first to see how it would work out and then unloaded and reloaded from the front. It worked very well from the front and more of the weight over the axles it pulled better as well.

Awesome trailer, and love the concept, but i would definately have to pass for 18k!

I have to agree that 18K was a tuff pill to swallow but, I/we have been through pretty much all of the other trailers out there and the quality of the Trails West trailers are by far at the top of the list. We currently have another trailer in our fleet that was supposed to be "The Best" and we paid $12K for a less than great trailer. The Issue I have is you/I spend an average of 8 to 10 thousand dollars for a sled then another few thou in go fast goodies multiply that times 4 sleds (I have two Kids and a wife) helmets and other gear and you have over 50K worth of sledding investment and I want a trailer to protect that investment and I have found that with Trails West. I was ready to buy a bumper Pull trailer and Shane offered me this Goose and it is by far the best choice for ME I prefer to pull Goose neck trailers and I am sure it will have it's disadvantages but I am willing to work through them. Also I would add that after several years of watching several of Trails West Goose neck and bumper pull trailers get beat to death hauling horses to and from the back country I can rest a little easier knowing that my trailer will not fall apart.....

What about the front door, it looks from the pictures that it doesn't have a lift-assist cable.

How heavy is it? Do you need several guys to open and close the darn thing?

Thanks.

PS sent an email to Trails West 2 weeks ago, haven't heard a peep back from them, maybe they're not selling right now, lol.
