Elka vs Raptor vs Fox Burandt(top level)

Currently have Raptor kinetics and really like them. Have heard really good things on both Elka and Fox Burandt.

Has anyone compared these 3 or specifically have feedback on how good the Elka really are?

Thanks in Advance!

I've rode them all, I think my elkas rode the best, that being said, they were custom valved for me where everything else was the standard out of the box valving. Coils regardless of brand tend to be a hair more plush then the airs no matter what fancy coatings etc fox has. But the airs and QS3 offered the most end user adjustment.

The one demise of elka is there is a LOT of steel parts. steel caps, etc, non lightweight coils etc. 5/8" shafts. I do think the bigger shafts and overall more mass made for better heat dissipation as I NEVER had those fade where I have faded some fox stuff. But kinetics and burandt airs are both close to half the weight of the elkas. So take that into consideration.

Only thing I hated and reason i gave up on elka was being in the states it was virtually impossible to get parts or service from elka and I know others that have had the same issues. The support was incredibly sub par and made me head new directions. My last setup I rode was the Fox burandt airs and I've been rather please with those. The QS3 feature is probably my favorite and why I've been most happy with the Fox package. overall most user friendly combo that I actually adjust day to day.

I went with Kinetics this year and I am hoping they are the bee knees. I have used Fox airs on all my sleds in the past, minus an IQr when I hardly knew anything about sleds, and I always thought they performed well.

I was looking at putting on the Fox QS3's on my sled; as I'm only looking for a better trail ride on the way in (and out) to the powder.

Will these help with the trail ride?

Fox used to sell good shocks back when they had the float 3 RC2’s. The qs3 was released because people were buying RC2’s and had no clue how to adjust them and then decided to complain so fox came out with the Qs3 the rc2 adjusters are available as an upgrade fox will not promote this service due to what happened when they sold them that way . I know this for a fact I have spoken with the fox engineers. Also I did put a set of qs3’s on my 22 khaos and decided to go back to the high/lo velocity shocks that came with my machine. The floats are barely lighter/ hardly noticeable when held in your hand than the velocities with the light weight springs also they are more adjustable and there is no air pressure changing on you constantly. After having good coil overs I will probably never go back to a air shock again

Sounds like Raptor still the goto. High end Fox are also a great option and there are so many parts avaialble for them. Still believe the key is keeping them fresh rebuilt and set-up for your weight and riding style. Heck after rebuilding my Walker Evans Piggy backs properly I noticed a huge diffference.

IMO the fox lightweight 1.5 QS3's are some of the plushest shocks around. that being said they definitely are valved fairly soft so even on position 3 an aggressive rider can start to run through them in harsh terrain.

This is why I run the airs, The progressive nature of the air spring plus the evol chamber and gives me the most overall plushness as well as the big ramp up to handle big jumps and drops. So this bridges best from my mellow pow days or creek bashing to also 100' plus big shaped up jumps in spring snow.

I really like my 2022 coil burandt fox qs3’s for plushness and overall ride quality.

Lightweight, tight long lasting bushings on the ends. (WE bushings are sloppy even when new)

I use the quick adjust clicker’s multiple times a day.
