Electric start question

I have a 2006 Summit 800 X that came with an electric start. I am trying to remove it since it does not work any more. I pulled the pipe off and was able to gain access to 2 bolts and removed them, but the starter did not loosen up at all. Are there more bolts that I cannot see? Will I need to remove the clutch to gain access to the other bolts if there are more? Do I leave the bolt holes on the engine vacant after the starter is removed or should I put bolts back into it so they are not open?

It is just extra weight that is not needed. Thanks for help.

there are three bolts... two on the output side of the motor (behind the drive clutch) and then one on the exhaust pipe side

You should ask the same question in the SkiDoo Rev section of the forum, would have your answer in 20 mins!

Wish I could answer it for ya.

I did ask the question over there first and suprisingly I did not get a response very quickly. That is why I then asked the question over here and got a response quicker.

I am not sure what is wrong with it specifically. I just had a guy look at the sled and give it a tune up and asked if he would look at it because the starter worked once in awhile. He said it was bad & the battery was dead. Bought the battery 2 years ago and I was stupid and did nothing with it all last year and now it is dead. Did not ride sled once last year, stinks. So the cost of getting a new starter was more than I wanted to spend and the battery and starter was a little extra weight. For around home here in MN the starter was great when it worked but I do not have the extra $ to get it fixed or a new one. So the fuse (I think he said fuse) was changed out so now it pulls and starts.
