Eldora map?

Hey all,

Looking to go riding somewhere near Eldora Mountain Resort the 18-22 and we're trying to find some maps with trail info and parking areas and having no luck. Any chance someone can PM me with some info and a little help?? Greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't go near that greenie shxt hole they call Boulder. CO2.0 and I got a trespassing ticket from the Boulder Sheriff's office for riding on a legal USFS snowmobile trail. We fought it in court and ended up still having to pay $1200 ..

We rode out from just below the Eldora lot .. there is a small trail head on the left. Oh I forgot to mention, Eldora was closed for the season at the time too.

I grew up in Boulder and have seen it go from a great mountain town to a shxt hole run by a bunch of granola eating liberals. And the sheriff is a complete douche.

you can ride out of rollins pass too but who knows.. it might be closed these days for ground hog protection

i'd go spend your money in a place where they like people like us. you might get a ticket for driving your diesel in town.. definitely lots of stink eye

You can park on West Magnolia Road - go south on the P2P from Nederland, top of the hill on the right, dirt road. There's a parking lot about 1/4mi in on the left.

There are legal sled trails back there, but the boundary is hard to follow, and it is REALLY easy to get into "illegal" areas. Nobody really seems to know what is and is not OK (there are snowmobiles on the brown signs at Westmag, at least there were 2 years ago), you can't legally connect to Rollins Pass/Corona, even in winter, which is stupid, ehhhh yeah it is hard.

The place that JP parked "should" be legal, but I never dared. The westmag stuff connects to that pretty easily, but again, it is very hard to tell when you're OK and when you're not. Eldora's XC trails are back there, too; we used to ride bicycles and dirtbikes on them, it made connecting to Jenny Creek a whole lot easier. It was probably illegal somehow, although I knew how to do it without disobeying a "no trespassing" sign.

The westmag motorcycle trails are now all illegal, as they're not on the MUVM, but before that, they were fun (and likely still are). I've seen attempts at sabotage on those trails - trenches dug, piles of logs, ropes across stuff. I've also seen no trespassing/private property signs on things that are CLEARLY public lands.

IMHO, that area - from rollins pass north to the watershed - has some neat stuff, but it is not worth the headache anymore. I had a cop tell me that "there was not much riding" at westmag while unloading my dirtbike, and it was "hardly worth the effort."

I thanked him.

"You can't get to Jenny Creek from here" he said. "That's a ticketable offense."

I'll bear that in mind.

That area is too much brain damage. Some neat stuff there, but the anti-ohv people are REALLY aggressive there. I also wound up with a tank full of sugar a couple of days after I went to Left Hand Canyon - different area, but similar mindset of the locals. I don't KNOW a "greenie" did it, but....? And it was sugar, I took the tank out myself. Fuquers.

That type of $hit is why I have a locking gas cap on my truck now. Those pussies would never be tough enough to say their $.02 to your face. Just like how every tough guy will flip you off and road rage to you in a car, but once you get out they stick their head in between their legs...

What about unloading at IdleGlen, Crooked Creek, or somewhere like that… or is this map not accurate? Thanks again.

That map is good, but those trailheads are ~2hrs from Eldora, by car. Eldora is roughly above "(Corona)", in the white space, east of the Continental Divide.

That little sliver of "no snowmobiles" makes it illegal to cross over - there's still a ROAD over the top, but alas, you can't use it.

That riding is decent - the stuff in the yellow "James Peak" area is called Corona, the bigger area by Crooked Creek is what *I* call Church Park, but....eh, might be wrong.

Decent riding over there - can be very good - but not close to Eldora, at all - you have to drive south to 70, up to 40, over Berthoud Pass, etc. It is a drive - and if that drive is worthwhile, IMHO, Rabbit Ears is probably worth a thought - timewise, it is not THAT much further.

Thanks man. We're definitely considering Rabbit Ears but it seems like the southern areas got more snow and are forecasted for more over the weekend. Have some friends that rode Vail pass the last few days as well with a foot plus in the open and more in the trees… just looking for more areas to ride without emptying my bank account in B.S. fines from some jerk off puffing his chest out on an electric snowmobile. :face-icon-small-coo

there is the wolf creek cam. southern colorado. looks super deep

your best bet is rabbit ears, buff pass (access from grizzly creek) or go ride vail (not my choice of a good time)

Yow, I knew WC was bad, but...eek, brown rocky snow?

Vail/central seems to be doing the best this year, but Buff/RE are certainly good, and the forecast suggests that central--> north will potentially be doing very well over the weekend.

Idleglen is a popular unloading spot but busy as it accesses a big groomed trail system. There are some places to play and Gravel Mtn (Super Chicken Hill). Theres a poker run out of Grand lake this weekend so it will likely be busy. Its a sledder friendly area.

Its supposed to snow for a few days starting Friday. Once you are out here its 150 miles from Denver to the east side of the Snowies or 130 miles from Granby to the west side unloading area....just a thought.
