Who out there is running a egt gauge on their Turbo Nytros? I am having a hard time tuning it. A few of my riding partners say put an egt on it. I all ready have a A/F. why would the turbo kits not come with an egt gauge? any help

What kit are you runnin? Give us some details about the kit and we can help.

powder lites stage 3 bigger injectors. when full throttle it pops and and sputters. doesn't make as much power as other turbo nytros i have ridden with.

Egt's are worthless. Your wideband a/f gauge will give you way more accuracy. The problem is when your poping on top end you a/f gauge isn't going to read properly. I would do a boost leak test and change your plugs. If that doesn't work your going to have to do some re-mapping on your rb3 (I would assume you have if it's a pl kit). I would first add fuel on the top end to make sure it's not a lean pop. If it continues to miss after adding fuel you can know it is and was a rich miss so then you would start pulling fuel on the top end. You also want to make sure you have enough cam arm weight, if you don't it will hit rev limiter and pop on top end as well.

No boost leaks. new plugs have not changed the problem in the passed. Not hitting the rev limiter either. I guess this would mean that it would be a fuel problem. I agree that adding fuel before taking away is the safest move. But my A/F is reading 10.5 meaning it is rich. unfortunatly i dont have the rb3 program so i have to take it to the shop every time. is having the rb3 program at home worth it it

The problems you are experiencing with the rb3 many have. Assuming like you say you checked all the obvious, Boost leaks, throttle bodies did pop off, cracked intercooler, fuel pressure ect.. I would say you defiantly need a new map and a egt wont help ya your a/f gauge is all ya need .So dont waste your money. If you have been tunning this for some time now with no luck i would get a hold of NM and look into the box he sells it works good on the nytro.

I had this happen twice to mine(Apex), for some reason my map would delete itself, I believe it was a voltage surge caused by moisture in the plug-in or ????. I rode mine for approx 3 years with out trouble, the whole time the box was bagged and wrapped tightly in tape up the wiring harness. After the bag/tape was removed last season, I started having grief. Try re-flashing your box with the map. Last February I had trouble, I re-flashed and away it went again. I had similar trouble last spring, ended up using a PL box for the rest of the season so I never got a chance re-flash it again. I'll flash it and try it again to see if it works. Another guy I ride with had similar trouble with his Nytro, Dave re-flashed it for him and away he went.

I forgot to ask if it has worked properly in the past? If so, I assume your A/F was good? Any boost leaks?

Have you actually pressurized your intake system up to 20 psi to make sure there are not boost leaks? Not just a eyeball test? What fuel control do you have?

Yes I have pressurized the system and no leaks. I have an RB3. Last season i ran 10 -12 lbs of boost if i increase my boost to 15lbs is it likely that it would run better.

Last year was a hard year for me. I worked in camp and only got to ride every 3rd or 4th week for a couple of days. it worked well some days and poorly others. the A/F has always seemed rich around 10.5 no leaks right now
