EFI Live Duramax

Idaho rob ran a 9.90 in phoenix last weekend. Trent Neil broke and so a lot of other people. I would use underground diesel performance out of las Vegas.

Anyone on here use the Spade EFI tuner from Duramaxtuner or the Autocal that has Rob's EFI tunes?
They appear to be simple to use and easy to install an EFI tune.
I currently have the Hypertech and not very impressed with it. Get what you pay for I guess!

Any of the other programmers will be better than what you got Idaho rob knows what he is doing also ppe hot+2 is a great way to go with a stock turbo

not really sure what this has to do with anything. Rob has broke many times before and he never ran 9.9 last weekend. He had lots of issues and best run was 10.1

I got basic EFI tuning on my 06 LBZ...stock everything else. No need to upgrade anything if your just looking for better fuel mileage. I got 425hp and just over 800 ft/lbs torque and get 22mpg empty and 19 loaded. Very awesome and truck flat out rips.
I guess it just depends on what you want to do with it. I just wanted better fuel mileage and the torque and xtra hp were a bonus.

Who is idaho rob? and is it a tune or what. i have seen his name all over here just not sure what its about. sorry if im a idiot

I posted links to Rob and Trent's website's... Pick up the phone and talk to both of them. Not sure what else you want to know?

Ok, Last question i have the edge cs chip has the 7 level race settings, can i use this just for the gauge purpose with efi live or do i have to get the edge cs outlook?

i think even on level 0 the edge adds some timing but if you let the tuner know he can most likely adjust the tunes for how much it adds

Efi live is the only wy to go. If you plan on much power start saving for the tranny. I made my own tune with Dpf delete for my 08 3500 cc lb with 35s and get 26mpg freeway with red fuel. Green fuel is about 24. I would strongly recommend going through Idaho rob or someone that uses his tunes. He is the best. He can also set you up with tunes that will for sure be good on a stock tranny if you want. You could call him and find out who in salt lake installs his tunes or just get the devise yourself and he charges 350 for 5 custom tunes and dsp5 switch last I talked to him.

I have an 08 my planned mods are
atp trucks autocal tune same as idaho rob
4" diemond eye exhaust
egr blocker
Plan to go with the level one and i already have an edge insight moniter.
I don't think that efi would hurt your truck if you have a good tuner make your tunes. It would be better than the edge i believe. Go to duramaxforums.com and do some research.

2003 LB7

Well ,# 1 injector failed , bent connecting rod , broke cam gear pin , all valves bent from contact with piston , was running a edge chip on # 3 ,**** *** bad luck with only 168000 KM on engine .

Shop doing the work installed a short block from a 2006 ( 88000 KM ) with LB7 heads , Keyed the camshaft and oil pump gears , 3" down pipe , 2" up pipes , 3.5" inlet horn , fuild engine damper ,Fass 150 HD lift pump system ,edge insight CTS monitor with EFI live with 5 programs , Suncoast trans. build (1200HP).
This set up is the same set up he is running on his 2003 ( same truck as mine ) with over 250000 KM on it with no problems , says 350HP to rear wheels.
Should be done soon .:face-icon-small-hap

Thanks , i hope so , was talking to him today , my #5 tune will be one step higher then his because of my trans. build and the 2" up pipes and the ARP head studs/cometic head gaskets.
He only runs the one tune in his truck and says he gets 26MPG , will let you know once i get it back .:face-icon-small-win

I would love to see anywhere near 26 mpg in my Duramax. I average around 14 around town, and 18 on the freeway empty. I'm around 10 pulling a load. I've got the Edge CTS chip, and DPF delete. Is there any way you can do a EFT tune to get a little better gas mileage with keeping what I've got now? I don't really plan on building the transmission, so I'm not looking for any more power. It's an 08 truck. I'd be tickled with 17-18 in town, and 21-22 on the freeway. Maybe 13-14 towing.

do the egr delete and get an aftermarket downpipe from the turbo , that will also bump up the mileage. the edge programmer is decent, but i wouldnt hesitate sselling it for EFI Live tuning. Day and night difference

Rmk01 said it, the dmax forum has everything you need on info

Long awaited over due I finally got efi live installed and all I can say is wow! It is unreal the way it woke my truck up compared to that edge wana be plug and play garbage, before with the edge I would easily hit 1300 deg one the lowest stage not even full throttle, now I get 1200 deg stage five efi WO for a long pull. When I got efi live installed I also got fass fuel system egr blocked and shimmed fuel rail. The dsp5 is awesome so slick and quick easy, 1 is stock 2 economy 3 tow 4 is hp and 5 well it's something nasty when you like to show off! Every stage beside one has the turbine brake built up a lot more than just stock with tow haul ingauged. Rapid diesel installed it all in rapid city sd great shop, and dudes check them out been around 30 years and just built and new shop just for pickups and dyno! Well worth it and your crazy if u have a d max and don't get it! Dont waste your money on a wannabe, if you don't have efi live you will always be chasing someone that does!

just be careful on those big tunes, the 4-5 and 5-4 shift can be hard on clutches.

Glad to hear you are happy with the tuning!

I have had it on 3 trucks. It makes the tuners look silly. If you are out west both ATP and EPR are excellent as mentioned. I have had it on stock turbo, mod turbo, stock tranny and modded tranny dmaxes from lly to llm. IMO no other tuner can really make the dmax get the mileage the Cummins gets unless you go with Efi Live and I have tried them all. V2 is the only way to go for dmax. Just shift manual in the higher gears and a transgo jr will last for a long time on a stock trans if you drive it right.
