Edge 800 exhaust Valve bottom end

I just bought an 03 VE 159". The motor in it busted the bottom case. The owner purchased a bottom end at a swap meet. I don't think what he purchased will work.

The question I have is, can I tell by the casting date or number or are there years that can be used and how to tell. The casting date for the case is 8/2000.

The crank had a spun bearing on the stator side. My intent is to use both cranks to make one or purchase one already rebuilt (recommendations?).

Thank you for your expertise in advance,
Rich

Any 800 case will work. You probably have one from a 2000 which is a little different, but will still work. The VES and non-VES bottomends were the same. The 00 has a little plate that bolts on the left rear of the motor where the torque stop bumps up against it. 01 and newer it was molded in to the case.

There is a machine shop in Logan, Utah that is offering rebuilt cranks, with wide bearing and new rods for like $450 with a core exchange. He also has line bored cases for like $225. I would suggest you call him, send him your stuff as a core and get back exactly what you need. If you buy the package deal he'll even throw in a gasket kit.
