ECU Power Up & PCV TPS Calibration

Looking for an expert opinion... was calibrating my Power Commander V - Throttle Position by using a 12v power supply to the ECU. Played around a bit to make sure my readings were accurate by 'snapping' the throttle a few times for the minimum value and holding open throttle for the max value. Noticed you get slightly different readings with open throttle based on pressure you put on it. Anyway, after I was finished with setting up the PCV I started up the sled and it smoked like crazy. Ran it for about 20-30 seconds and had to shut it down to let the smoke clear in the garage! Is this because I had the ECU powered up without the sled running? Does oil and/or gas make its way through the system with the ECU powered up, but not running the engine and basically builds up until you burn it off? Just curious if this would be normal. --THX.

Hey.. im not really sure but i will let you know sooon my sled comes in today and i am doing the same thing to it.... but heres a few questions for ya before...did u add oil to the gas? if you didnt ask your dealer if they did...IMO that some dealers will do that right away and some dont... on the sticker is says ad 2 pints of oil to the first tank of gas so maybe they did or did not? also make sure full of gas if you put oil in the gas tank..... AND from factory the sleds are rich and do smoke alot for the first 20 miles or so... FYI..Lemmie know how it works

Thanks Outlaw525s. Yes, dealer put 1/2 tank of pre-mixed gas so it must be a combination of the pre-mix and the heavy use of oil during the break-in perioid. By the way... the sound is awesome with the stage 2 kit installed. Quite a bit more throaty than stock. Might also have something to do with the foam removed from my hood. :face-icon-small-hap

No oil gets injected unless the motor is turning. It is a mechanical pump.

The fuel will also not be injected unless the motor turns with the key on. Your dealer most likely premixed oil in your fuel.

Yes... My clutching foam is out... The exhaust side pannel foam is off...and under my hood foam is off... I HATE that stuff.... why make the engine hotter with "sound barrier" foam.... did u run with the track in the air? and did you instal the Dash Vent?
