Easy Way to Diagnose Driveshaft Bearing?

The last couple rides I have noticed my track rubbing a bit when going slow/downhill. Usually over bumps, seems like when the sled is under power I don't really hear it. Probably still happening though. Thinking it's my driveshaft bearing going out after reading a couple threads. Is there a quick easy way to diagnose this? My hifax are also a bit worn, so I want to rule them out as being the culprit. Thanks.
 
put it on the the side and reach in on the clutch side and grab the drive shaft and see if you can move it. if you have doubt just pull it and look at the bearing the hour it take is worth the piece of mind. o does you speedo still work? if not change the bearing on the speedo side
 
I would agree with FOMOCO as the chaincase bearing is in a constant oil bath and rarely fails. If the speedo quit .....it's the clutch side bearing.
 
If the speedo quits, you know the bearing is gone. But you could just have the hyfax worn down too much and the track nubs are rubbing on the front cross-shaft

Speedo bearing is toast.

A couple questions. It appears there is a lock collar on the speedo bearing driveshaft side and the speedo bearing slides on to sit flush next to the collar, correct? The bearing was in two pieces when I took it out, no ball bearings even left in it. The bottom section of the bearing is stuck on the driveshaft. Any tips on how to get it off? I can spin it a bit with vice grips, but it doesn't want to turn off.
 
undo the allen screw on it and take a punch and hit the outside clockwise if your looking at the bearing not the lock ring. it has a oval inside and you use the ring to lock it into place and the allen to secure it

Lock ring is free now, guess I just need to work the inside of the bearing off somehow. It spins(not easily) but doesn't want to come off the shaft.

Cut a notch in the piece of bearing that was stuck on, and used an air hammer in that notch to knock it off the shaft, worked pretty well.
