Eastern Sierra RZR ride 7/19/09

Hey dude. Got the RZR the end of May when I went back to ID. I already have my eyes on a big bore kit that Holz is using for racing!! He builds some awesome stuff for the RZR's........think I may wait until next summer to do anything else; I told my wife I would leave it stock but that has not been the case:) What a blast this thing is though!!!

Anthony keep an eye on your air filter. Mine was letting dust pass by and it sucked into my motor. Had to replace whole motor. Only had 350 miles. WAS passed six month warranty, but polaris extended warranty to 18 months for dirt infiltration problem so i was covered thank god. Looking at after market air intakes now.

EDGE

Good call Edge; I have seen several filters so clogged that they collapse into themselves. Linda Lovelace could not suck enough of a breath of air through these things to keep her alive for another 5 seconds. Guys come in blaming the early 08 airbox upgrade for their blown motor. NO DICE! I am with the customer as much as I can be, but Polaris definately recognizes neglect when they see it. Not only that, but my dyno says there is almost as much power available from opening up the intake, as any combination of bolt ons available today. All us sledders are accustomed to two stroke gains, and we will not see those kinds of gains until we turbo with a four stroke. Pipe, controller, ignition, clutch kit....... 2.5hp $2500. Clamp on air filter with outerwear.....2hp $60. Turbo...... 35hp. $5k (34 rwhp baseline)

Which air filter system you like Bill? I also heard the new Muzzy dual exhuast works well; 7hp on the dyno and not too loud.

There you go AO bills intake will take care to intake and exhaust... 7hp is hard to believe with a exhaust system.. we installed this system on a freind of mines RZR this spring it is a sweet system made some big improvments but the exhaust is loud but he wants it for the sand..

BTW check out the hood scoops on the RZR in the pics AO..

If not before as my little 500 kicks your a$$
:lips: :beer;

I got the 7hp number from Holz's website on their motor that they dynoed. According to them, the motor made 7hp more with the Muzzy twin exahust and header, than the stock exhaust..........unless I am looking at that wrong. I lso heard from someone first hand that rode one that it is not that much louder than stock. Kind of curious now.......

Do it up dude..... Let me show you in person how bad they are willing to lie, to sell a product. Let's make it interesting tho. I'll pay you $100 for every hp above stock, and you pay me $100 for every hp below their 7hp claimed gain. Your intake needs to be untouched. I won't even charge you any dyno time, and I will let you run the controls to make sure I am not cheating.

LOL.....I did notice one thing though...that dyno run was on a modified motor, so maybe the exhaust let the motor breath better and make more power, not necessarily the exhaust making power itself. Doesn't really matter, I put enough money in it this summer already. Need to start saving up for winter:) Thanks for the offer though Bill, I do like the idea.

.....one more thought. I have heard of guys putting the "S" model exhaust and header on the standard version RZR. I understand the "S" does make more power, so I wonder how that would help, and I am sure it is half the price. What cracks me up is that people get all excited about adding 5, 10 or even 20hp to these things. Where as on a sled, I don't get excited until you add +50hp.

The S has a different head and cam, I would bet those are much more responsible for the 2hp gain than the exhaust. Even though the s makes 2 more crank hp, the clutching is set up for more power at 45mph, where the standard clutching is set up for power all in by 25mph. That higher clutching eats more power so they end up the same rwhp in the end. I have an s motor in my ranger with standard clutching and an open air filter and it makes 4 more hp than a rzr, WITH STOCK EXHAUST. I actually lost power with a couple different aftermarket pipes, So i figured why make the noise?
