Anyone been there that could recommend a place to stay. Might head that way for Christmas.

Durango was very high price the last time I was their. Been approx 3 years ago. Isn't their a small town close.

We're going to do the train thing, I think. Historic would be cool. I dont do dirty places!

Click on the link in previous post....check out the Strater Hotel or General Palmer in Lodging/Hotels. Both are right down town near the station.

train thing, that funny. ...what other plans do you have? Hopefully, your not traveling from Montana just to ride a antique train to Silverton. That country is beautiful this time of year. And a coating of snow this weekend, enjoy!

Yeah, train thing is about it. I want to ride a steam train, plain and simple. Probably wont get it done for Christmas though.

Do they run the train at Xmas time? I thought it was shut down before that

Not the full trip, just a short trip. Limited schedule this time of year.
