Did I do any damage by running at steady RPM with the Y pipe unbolted from the manifold?
Backstory--
My formerly clean garage is full of my wife's crap so I don't have a warm place to wrench.
I went out to a remote lodge this past weekend and developed a bit of a cold bog that would pass after warm up. I checked the plugs and they were good-nice and brown)
On the ride out (65 miles of mostly smooth trail) my engine noise got real ratty. I've never dealt with a lean bog before and didn't know exactly what they sound like, other than "pingy". I didn't have any idiot lights on but I stopped opened the hood, checked my oil and coolant. Then I noticed this shape protruding from the Y-pipe/manifold seal--It's the gasket.
Further inspection reveals all 4 bolts missing and laying at the bottom of the belly pan. At this point we were only 8 miles from the truck so I limped it in.
Other than the sound the engine ran fine.
So, did I screw up? And, how bad?
