Drug testing for Welfare

I saw this a while ago and made it into a myspace bulletin. I don't usually post any bulletins, so when I do, most of my friends read them.

Its amazing, even my liberal friends agreed with it.

Holy chit that is amazing!

BTW, most (if not every) tweaker or dealer I have busted has been on full welfare. Meaning....all their medical (Medicaid), food, housing, child care, and cash assistance is given to them by taxpayers. We support these druggies and dealers.

The welfare system is a sham. Not because its not a good idea, it is a good idea, but it's abused beyond recognition. Its FUBAR. Good idea but abused. Probably no solution for it either. Its either let it go as is or end the whole thing.

That means the tax payers are "enablers". Worse than pushers, IMO. If I have to pee in a cup to get a job and get paid, the least they can do is pee to get paid. Fair is fair, while we are at it, you have to pee to be in congress, or the any position of leadership.

I have to agree with you guys. When i was growing up i remember it being called public assistance. In the begining i am sure that it was a good hearted program that was to help people in their times of need, ie, familys that lost their jobs, or one parent passed. My problem is that it has become a addiction that many have been born into and know no other type of life. It disgusts me when you read about familys that have generations on it and are pulling in as a group over a million dollars in benefits. Another of my pet peeves with this system is how quickly legal and illegal imigrants are allowed to participate, without even making any attempts at becoming a productive member of our society. I have been hearing stories of people of other nations comming here to have anchor babies. As their kids grow up, they return to the US as a citizen and bringing their elderly parents back and getting them on the system. WTF how is our welfare system turning into a retirement system for foreigners?

Agreed Wade and Puff!

Let me explain another attitude out there. Someone close to me works in welfare. She told me one day a dude came in and said he works for commission and hasn't gotten paid the last 3 months. She looked at his application and said sir you have 17,000 in your bank account...you don't qualify. He then said, "Oh you actually need it to get it?" He then asked what if he filled out a new application and left that part out. She said well that would be fraud then. He then asked what if I spend it...she said well you need to show us were you spent it.

THE MENTALITY of even so many middle and upper class citizens! The entitlement!!!

The cost to test vs. what it would save might be a wash but the idea that anyone applying to take my money(your money too) would be held somewhat accountable, makes me feel a little better. Who knows, maybe if it was actually instituted for some time, those applying might make sure they were clean which might "weed out" many scamming the system. JMO

Agreed again, but it wouldnt be a wash. Let me give you an idea. A single person on food stamps gets 200 a month in food stamps.....the average druggy uses 10,000 a year in Medicaid to help feed their drug addiction (oxycottin, hydrocodone, vicadin, etc, etc, etc....they know how to get the right doctors by doctor shopping)...they all go into an ER when they get a sniffle or a small cut, they get most of their rent paid for by us...they get utilities paid for....

A wash? Not even close bro...we would save millions/billions.

LMAO Nate! Thanks for the green!

Dems won't allow it.
Most ALL welfare people vote dem.
Sorry, hate to rain on the parade but the fact is as long as the dems are more concerned with votes than fixing the system, nothing will change.

Oh, and I would LOVE to see drug testing for welfare. It would reduce the welfare rolls by a chingo.

MPS, I totally agree- In the bigger picture. I just think that while it is being implemented, for a few years atleast, the cost might outweigh the benefits. Maybe not. There might be an instant benefit just because druggies would be afraid to try fearing they would be caught. I still like the idea of accountability for those wanting our tax dollars.

Kinda like, when some woman shows up for welfare for her six children, and refuses to name the kid's fathers. Those men owe those kids, not us. So, tell us who they are, so we can go get his money, and give it too the kids, not the tax payers. Funny, how it's OK to beat up tax payers for your mistakes, but not the individual responsible. (of course, you might not remember all those names :) )

What i see around here is single mom's pumping out kids to get more dollars, then i see them at the casino's and bars spending all that money, which makes me wonder how those children are taken care of.

That information should be manditory for additional benefits. As well as being a legal right for the system to offset costs through garnishing of the fathers wage. If you are adult enough to make em, you should be adult enough to care for them.

Where are the social workers, Dept of Family Services when you need it. How about a manditory birth control clause for single mothers on the welfare?
