Drop in kit clutching. What do you like?

What's everyone running?

I'm running stock high altitude springs with a delrin washer in the secondary.

Adjustable roosters

So far my best performing was 1.8 grams in the heel, empty belly and tip

However, I was getting a mid range rev limit until I got up to about 10k feet. It pulled very very hard...

Tossed .8 into the belly and it brought down my mid range rev limit a lot but I lost a surprisingly amount of grunt and would still hit that limiter occassionally

Just took the .8 out of the belly and upped the heel to 2.3... Hope there's enough belly weight to avoid the mid range bog and keep that low grunt

I ride 8-11k feet usually, here in Colorado

Also I can't seem to get over 8200 rpm... Maybe I'm not running enough weight to load the motor?

Any suggestions and your combos would be a nice thread for others to look to

All stock except rooster weights 6.something grams in the heel, 1.3 grams middle nothing in the tip. 8000'+ this week running good once I found out it likes A LOT of fuel up high. rev1 kit. 8300-8400 rpm in the deep and over revving on the trail.
Also should add Indy Dan machined and balanced the clutches and put in delrin washers in primary and secondary.

Mike, are you seeing the DET code? Try putting the 10/58 or 10/60's back in for yucks.

We run same elevation but are at 5.6 in the heal 1.3 in the mid and .8 in the tip and running 8250 in the pow and 8350-8400 on the trail something else is wrong. I had a similar issue with mine last year just found that when I cleaned my power valves I installed the wrong gaskets (there is a difference) you wanna use the new polaris gasket they have changed them and make sure they are sealing or your power valves won't operate properly. I chased a issue on mine since last year of in consistant rpm on top come to find out that's what the problem was runs like a million bucks now

Also what helix you running that will effect it also

Maybe try running more fuel.
I rode mine for 8 days under 6500' and it ran good close to Kelsey's #s. This Week I've been all above 8000' and at first I barely could pull 8000 rpm and it felt like a turd. Did a plug check and they were scary white:face-icon-small-sho so I started adding fuel and now I'm 2x what Kelsey recommended in the mid and 3x more on top and its pulling like crazy. This is the rev 1 kit.

Pm me your numbers I'll check them with mine I also added a lot more fuel than was recommended and the higher elevation needs more fuel it works opposite of what you would think the computer on these over compensate on fuel at higher elevation I run both the rev 1 and rev 2 both are really good

What RPM's are you shooting for?

Rev limit on the trail, 8300 up high

Interesting theory on the power valve gaskets... I'll have to look into that

Bill, I hit det the very first time out with it when I was in a hard 360 and the track came all but off the snow with it wot. Other then that, 0 det and never a code.. Just what I'm assuming was a mid range bog but I'll never know because no codes throw

I'm also running stock helix

And I do not run a fuel controller, it's a 12. It wouldn't hurt, I've just never dealt with a fuel controller and the 12 supposedly don't need it

I have not done one on a 12 so I can't say but I will say the amount of fuel I have to add to the 13-14 there is no way they will run and make the power without more fuel. in my mind the 11-12 can't be that much richer on the mapping, they probably run ok but I bet you add a controller and put 10 percent more fuel in you will see a lot more power my 13 would run without it also but was underpowered as soon as a put in fuel total different story night and day difference. That is a good possibility what your rpm problems are. I have been testing and tuning this setup for two years. In my mind a fuel controller is the best mod you can get. Fuel controller not required but it makes a huge difference that's my .02

Mike,
If you want to play with a PCV give me shout, I have one with a stage 3 map in it that is sitting idle right now.

Not to derail but is anybody running the Carl's helix with gold secondary spring, and the rooster weights?

Stage 2 Rooster Built clutching. 3900 engagement, Linear shift out, follows torque curve of motor very well. Going to break it's back with a little more gearing next to see what she will take.

The closest "drop in" set up I have found to the old proven Heel Clicker set up from days of yore.

would you say its worth the money to get carls helix? what differences did it do with the custom angles?

Well that's a good question I like the faster up shift of the 62 but I have run the stock helix also it works just fine also the carls may edge it out a little in the powder (had to adjust the weight a little to make it right) but prob not worth the $ I had one laying around so I tried it
