Drop Brackets??????

I have them on my 07 Summit, I think they work great, its personal preference alot of time but they made a noticeable difference to me. A guy sells them over at dootalk, Smitty800 I think his username is, there nice and thick ones, you can get them customized too.

Hands down they look real cool but when I put them on my Summit it put too much ski pressure (yes I played with the limiter straps) and also made the sled too top heavy. This is just my opinion on them.....;)

IMO just adding the drop brackets, No, not worth it. Besides the added ski prsessure, it affects the approach angle and causes the sled to trench more.
And with the added board clearance you can even trench deeper.;)

I was also thinking of installing the "Smitty" drop brackets, but my plan was to get the drop & set back brackets (1" back) & move my front arm mounting point back the same 1" so as not negatively effect the approach angle.

Do you still have them on ,or did you pull them off? I figure for $130 it's worth a try, if you can go back to stock. As for ski pressure "for me anyway" I could stand to keep them down while climbing, I tend to have the ski's up way to far. I notice that on allot of after market tunnels them have built in drop brackets. It's the approach angle that concerns me a little. I have been known to kiss the ski tips on occasion already.

OH OH,
The Poo Poo is a flyin!!
Some guys did not like the added ski pressure, but helped in keeping the front end down on the steep climbs, also, the added Tunnel clearance is an added bonus, just takes some tweekin to get it dialed in.
TOP, I thought you liked the Drops? Last we spoke all was good, somethin changed?

Smitty,

Don't get me wrong, I think your drop brackets are a great product and your service is #1. At first I thought I liked them, then after riding a buddies sled (same as mine) I realized I was fighting my sled more with the brackets on. You're right, some people love them, some people don't. It's a GREAT products for the people who do like them!

I thought the same thing also my 99' 700 rmk handled like shizt on the trail with wong's drop & roll plus a set back and drop.
BUT I put Smitty's Set Back drop brackets and set the rear in the furthest down and back hole and matched the front arm.All I can say is it made my 2006 summit way better in the deep pow. I didn't have them in elk river and had them the rest of the winter in the endless dumps of N. Idaho and the sled planes out better in the powder, doesn't trench from the start. When
you match the drop and set back with the front arm the approach angle is better and the tunnel has more clearence hence easy snow evacuation of the tunnel. Ski pressure was not noticably different. Made a sled that was 10x
better han my 159' polaris vertical escape even better!

Dropping the back down is not such a bad thing, but there is more to it then gust adding a drop down bracket.
For example, you just ad a drop bracket and nothing ells. Is what happens is that the back of the track touches the ground long before the front touches. Then when you sit on the sled it just sacks out the back portion of the suspension and that is why your sled will trench. The geometry is all off at that point and your sled feels front end heavy.
So is what you do is, put the drop bracket on then re drill the front down half the distends that the back was dropped (this is the rule of thumb on any sled). This will make your suspension set level on the ground and it will feel like it should.
I highly recommend a drop bracket on the REV because they have very little track to tunnel clearance, this robs power do to not enough air volume and the track rubs the tunnel and it rubs all the ice buildup (this is like riding the break).
We do not sell a model exclusive drop bracket like Smitty does but we do sell add on drop brackets that will bolt rite to the OEM bracket. They work well and if you do not like the way the sled handle then just pull them back off. They are $75 and you can see them at www.timbersled.com under Custom Products

What he is saying, you can drop the front ARM, HALF the distance of what you dropped in the rear.
You dropped the rear 2", now drop the front 1" for example.
