Driver pitch?

Im considering a Camoplast Peak 2.5, 2.86".
Im considering this track since i have decided to change from stock to Avid driver anyway.

What does the driver pitch refer to?
Is there any benefits to my stock 3" vs. 2.86" if not in practical then theoretically?

Thanks
Hans

Track pitch is the center to center distance between the drive lugs. The most common method of measurement is inches.
2.52" pitch is the most common for shorter tracks. While 2.86" and 3" are popular with mountain sleds.
Normally the longer the pitch, the lighter the track is and of course the paddles are spaced farther apart, which can help in soft powder.
The difference between the 2.86" and a 3" is .140" in spacing so there's not a huge difference between the two. Other factors such as paddle design and rubber durometer will usually have a bigger impact on track performance.
