Dream sled build

A

Well-known member
Starting tear down on my 11 assault tomorrow. It already has an avid d+r and 162 3 inch track
List of mods include:
Carl's 900 (they're building me a complete motor cause mine has 3500 miles, crank needed to be done and I sold my motor for a good price)
Black kmod withe orange rails
Raptor shocks all around
Holtz a arms
C3 belt drive for my avid case

I'm only 18 and this is what Ive worked all summer for. This is my idea of the perfect dream sled. Give me some suggestions!

Will post pictures of the tear down tomorrow

Since you asked for suggestions, here's mine:
1) Skip the Fox shocks, front & rear.
2) Since you mentioned the KMOD skid, just go ahead and call Kevin at KMOD or visit his new site and get the complete suspension WITH the Raptor shock upgrade. While your at it, get the Raptor shocks for the skis - I believe he offers a package deal if you the skid and ski shocks.

I had Flost2 shocks on the IFS and Float2s with my Mtn Tamer on my 09 RMK,. and have now switched to the complete KMOD w/Raptor upgrade and Raptor clicker ski shocks. Got tired of constantly check pressures and never could find the "right" pressure for the rear skid shock. They were a definite improved from the stock crap shocks Poo puts on the std RMK models but I think the Raptors will be even better.

I would really like to do the kmod with the raptors it's just so much money right now. The motor is costing me 7500 and I have to run a bit of race fuel so thats going to cost me

The motor is costing me 7500

That's a lot of money to drop on a motor man.. I'd Drop one of indy dans motors in there with the 5 year warranty. Drop the rest of your money in a KMOD, front suspension, and clutching. then your going to have a sled that will run worry free.. It's cool to have a lot of power.. But even more cool to be riding way more than anyone else. Just my suggestion.. But its your money not mine :face-icon-small-coo

FWIW, I did a little research and understand the $7500 price tag, but keep in mind, you can have all the power in the world but if your suspension can't control it, you might end up with a sled that is difficult to ride - thus no fun to ride. The valved Floats will help, but the stock skid really wasn't designed to handle the extra HP you're going to throw it. Just a thought, nothing more, nothing less.

got the motor out yesterday, pistons and cylinder look awesome considering there is 3500 miles on the motor. no signs of scuffing from what i can see. motor mounts are shot. one of my plug ins coming off the stator was melted pretty good, i think it mustve just been a loose conection.
im really leaning towards the kmod now, im going to give kevin a call tomorrow. i talked to him a couple months ago about the new kmod and it sounds sweet. the raptors sound like they work really well
going to start pulling the skid and the a arms out right now.
and the motor was actually about 8100 cause i got a new crank and case and the big bore with the slp pipe, power comander, intake, clutch parts, injectors and they are assembling it for me

sick sled i hope i get too see it if ya ever swing out to valemont when im out.

Duh, you said that in the original post - sorry.

No problem. The three inch works really good but the d+r does change the handling quite abit. All my motor parts are getting shipped from Carl's this week and I'm gonna phone Kevin tomorrow, thanks for the info on the kmod. I see you are running the peak track, how do you like it?

So far I like it, but I never could find a good psi for the rear Float2 shock on my Mtn Tamer skid last season so that made the sled some what difficult to ride. I read from some knowledgeable people that the Peak needs 500+ miles to "break-in" and then really starts to perform well. I only got about 300 miles of riding last season. I can tell you, it throws one hell of a roost - I do not have to worry about some tailgating me.

This is my baby and what I did to it this summer.

It's talked to Kevin at kmod, what a great guy to deal with. Getting a black skid with orange rails and gold raptors on front and back

That will look great on you sled. The business that does his powder coating as well as all of SLP's did my rails, well all of the powder coating you see on mine. They know what their doing.
