What's the best of going about doing so? Haven't had to do it on a Polaris yet,got snow in my intake after a mishap with a tree in Cooke city

You think you now have water in the lower cases? Wouldn't expect snow to pack in the intake system to the point of that. But you saw what happened not me.
Pull the spark plugs, keep switches in off position, and pull recoil a few times maybe with towel or rag over both cylinder holes and check to see if you think thers a lot of water in there.
 
Probably is lower case drain bolts at the front of motor. other than that pull until you think no water in there reinstall plugs and get running again soon, could add some oil in cylinders also
