Dragon driveshaft bearing reliability?

Being fairly new to owning the Dargon chassis sleds, I'm wondering about driveshaft bearing reliability. I spent the last few seasons on edge chassis sleds and I know the speedo side bearing was subject to failure as I had to replace a few. I got to the point I would replace them every year to be sure.

How does the Dragon compare to the edge in bearing life? Perhaps the large diameter IQ shaft protects the bearing from constant snow spray?

Thanks,

Wayne

I also replaced a couple of driveshaft bearings on two '02 Edge sleds we once owned. I learned the hard way you need to give them a shot of grease every few rides, very easy to do.

I've done the same with three Dragon sleds we've owned and have not had any problems with the driveshaft bearings. One sled had over 6400 miles on it when I sold it.

As long as your greasing it that should be the latter to have problems with , the ones to be concerned about are the idlers on the IQ,s , pop the seals and repack them with a good grease , their prone to freezing up also and the track wears a flat spot on them real quick since their plastic not rubber.

Just had a bunch of work done to my dragon by a mechanic buddy, one of the first things he mentioned was replacing the driveshaft bearings. I don't know how big the stock bearings are, but the one he showed me to replace it is HUGE and beefy and I'm real glad it's in there now. Apparently it's one of the more common repairs he does on a daily basis.

They are a pretty small bearing for the loads put on them. The key to these bearings living is making sure they get greased often and after the last Spring ride before putiing the sled away.
