Dore mcbride ?

No there is only a small area for heli skiers the rest is open, be sure which area you are in. Getting in there is a long trail, about 30km then a big long side hill. Simple if there is a foot to ft 1/2 as you can saw through the slope. There are two areas north dore and south dore.

I heard that there are new closures there...( south dore)

from what I have been told, it is a place that you need a good base of snow to get into. usually spring time.

All of the dore needs good snow to get in. I believe it is closed this year which is sh..ty. Been riding there for years and never once seen any caribou sign. I wouldnt waste my time trying to get in for sure untill jan.

The dore is truly one of the best riding spots in B.C. I would say if you plan to ride there try to hook up with someone who knows the area. I will post some pics of some of the epic dore riding area.

No closures at N or S Dore, i checked with the goverment officials who had a booth set up at the Edmonton snowmobile show. But S. Dore is not for the inexperienced. Hook up with someone who's been there, getting in and out in certain spots can be a real jackpot. And if you have a breakdown back there it's chopper rescue for sure. N. Dore is easier to access but same thing go with someone who's been there. Don't bother going now there is minimal snow and no creeks are frozen over. You'll never make it.Higgins.

nice pics T. You need photobucket

That looks awesome. Can someone draw a map to get in ? Why doesn't more people go there if its so great ? Or is it that hard to get into that it is only expert.

I think the long trail ride deters a lot of people from going in there, but yes it really is that good, however it is not an area for rookies. You don't need a map just turn off the highway 4kms west of Mcbride on the dore river road. There is a parking lot not far from the highway. From there either go with someone who knows the area well or hook up with somebody in the parking lot that you can tag along with. I will not give any further directions because you really do not want to go there without someone who knows the area, there are a couple of spots that at the end of the day are very tough to get out of.We had an episode a couple years ago where there were a couple of smaller sleds with novices riding and we were stuck on the hill til almost 10:00 pm getting everybody out safely. That was not even on a huge pow day

What poorider says!
Some of the best riding around but getting in & out can be difficult. Even hazardous at times. We only go in the spring once the lower half has settled out. North Dore is easier than South but find someone familiar with the area for sure.

The ride in to S. has very high avalanche potential and if it's bad weather don't even bother going there you'll never make it in. Get a hold of Rod at Adrenaline tours if your serious about giving it a try.

i 've heard that about dore . i know a few guys who have riddin lots and said dore was scary getting into . they said you had to travel along the bottom of a valley with no trees on either side just to get in . sounds like a terrain trap to me . They also said something about dogsled only trails ?

Guess this is not for me as i've only been in the mountains 3 times and the saddle scared me. Looks like some awesome hills and great snow. If you get in there it deffinely wouldn't be tracked up.
