wow.... sounds nice! How far do you live from this place? I actually live right on the river.... steelhead fishing out in my back yard.... ya... ok... I'll shut up now.... lol!!!! I had a moose im my back yard yesterday trimming my apple trees....

We're actually only 20 miles from it. But 9 miles of it is dirt road.....and a real dirt road. We pull our camper up and stay in that for the summer......though it's a bit small now with the 2 pups........but we are outside most all of the time so that's not a big worry.

so is this dirt road like 4X4 road? ...and you stay there all summer??? THATS COOL!!! what do you do for power/water?

The dirt road is just a slow going road if your towing, or have a camper on back. It only gets graded a couple of times during the summer.....and it gets a lot of traffic, so there are potholes.

There are 2 hand pump wells up there. I get a workout enough, so I bought 5 gallon buckets with lids, and those get filled at home by the hubby to fill the camper up. Power is generator only.....I do have an inverter inside for low power stuff.......then we usually watch a movie at night with the generator to recharge the batteries. :)

So, is the dirt road going to be ok with a HEAVY truck camper?

Yes.........just sometimes you will need to go slower than other times. There are a ton of floaters that use this road, campers (BIG motorhomes/buses/5th wheels/etc).....and it just depends. We will be able to let you know what the road is like at that time as PC has to drive it daily to get to work. I'll get you my cell number.

There are also a lot of contruction trucks/semis that travel the road.

If you prefer to not go on the gravel at all, you can go through the main Park entrance. That will cost you, and take a bit longer (not bad). If you go in through the back way, there is no one at that entrance, so it is free (just don't go out another one and try to come back in that way). We like sending people in from the campground. Free to get in, our campsites are cheaper, and more space per campsite while being on the river. :)

We will trust whatever way you take us.

If the road is too bad, I will just have a few beers and relax.

You have cell service up there?

Who is your provider?

I have an external antennae that I plug into my cell phone. One mounted on top of the camper, and in each truck. We use Verizon. I can tell you spots at camp where you can get service (there are a few), or a short drive up the dirt road about 2 miles where you can get almost, if not, full bars. I got that stuff figured out my first year. Being a woman there by myself......I had a few scary incidents......so I learned my cell spots quickly, just in case (if I don't have my .40 or Bear Spray on me ;) ).

Verizon seems to get the best service up there! I know some spots on the beach by the boat landing......and I make a big rock pile, put sticks standing up in it......then send peeps to the *cell tower* for their phone calls.

Last year I found out that I could be locked out of our camper (the way PC locked things when he left in the morn). Thankfully one of our regulars who comes up fishing was there.......so I had to go see him in my jammies (boxers and a tank), and use his cell on the beach for PC to come back from work to let me back in the camper (pups were both still inside). :o

EXACTLY!! However not entirely his fault. First time we each had a set of keys. Normally I just have them...but gave him a set in case I wasn't at camp, or for some reason didn't get up when he did. First time out, and we learned the hard way about how to NOT lock the camper! :face-icon-small-sho
