Does It Makes Sense To....

To have all the fluids (GAS, OIL COOLANT etc) changed ....on my RX-1 since it has essentially been sitting (covered) for two years...once I take it to the dealership for the initial look over??

Yes it has been run frequently...but not driven if you know what I mean...

Thanks for the other suggestions...to be blunt...am not handy at all mechanically...thus the need to take it to the dealer...

Former owner did pamper it...all the service records are up to date....just did not use it for 2 years...

I am bit older now..so not quite interested in being aggressive with it...just always liked the sled regardless of its limitations and weight...guess I am a bit off...lol

I am a relatively big guy....6'2" 235 lbs....so I am hoping that it wont ride me...lol

definitely not a BAD idea. might cost you $200. but worth it probably. i try and do all mine yearly on my nytro...dont forget to have them grease the zerts up and check for blown seals.

Thanks!

Zerts??

Blown seals makes sense....

I was going to get Nytro....I think it was a 2008 XTX with 2" track from Yukon Yamaha...but this year I didnt want a payment...so opted for the RX-1.....it has the long track and 2.25 inch paddles....mountains skis

It reminds me of my 1973 Lincoln Mark IV...a bit heavy...but its a classic!
I paid $4300.00 Cdn for it...and its woman driven....Even with my limited mechanical understanding...its very clean...and only has 1750 miles on it... Plus she threw in two HJC helemts with heated visors...

Anyhow thanks for the feedback...cannot wait to get out and see the power of this thing....lol

Next year I might get a Nytro...let me know what you think of it...

love the power, but.it is heavy. that rx1ton will b great for fast trails, but hard on the body in the powder. buddy of mine owned one, he was maybe a few lbs lighter than you, but he was always whinin. the nytro is much better, but after my doc gave me some bad news about my shoulder last friday, im probably going to have to sell it and lay low for a while. sukin.

Sorry To hear...

That is too bad....about the shoulder....

I had a bad dust up in 99 and spent a year learning how to walk again...left ankle, foot, fibia etc.....its humbling....

Hopefully you will recover....make sure you work hard in physio if you have to take it....its an investment that will pay divenends long term...

As for the Zerks what are they....do you mean the places where you grease?

Anyhow..thanks for the tips..I know its gonna be fun...I alway wanted a Vmax bike...and for me this is it on skis!

Yukon, what part of that cool land do you call home? Having been to few parts of it. Yukon takes in a whole lot of land.

Yes, grease points. I have both and the Nytro is easier to ride overall. It was a much better design than the RX-1. In my opinion it only needs 2 changes, a better track and 30 more hp. I still enjoy the RX-1. It will out climb my Nytro.

I would have the RX-1 serviced. Ask the dealer if they can check the PH of the anti freeze. If they can, they can most likely correct it if needed. Otherwise have them change it also.

Many Thanks To My Alaskan Brothers!

I live in Whitehorse...been a country boy all my life. Moved to Whitehorse and live in a sub division...is that irony or what!

Thanks for reasssuring me guys...you hear so much stuff about the RX-1 and it gets a bit bewildering....plus it aint easy to look at it everyday and not be able to ride it!

I do have 151" track with 2.25" paddles..it is in great shape! The previous owner said she put some sort of high altitude kit on it as well as mountain skis...

I would show you a pic but cannot figure out how to post such...:face-icon-small-dis

Thanks Swelly!

It has it's charm....I must admit...

But so does Alaska..I love that state! We have been to a few places...Huna, Valdez, Haines..of course Skagway!

Like I said I was going to buy new...but we go to LV every six mos..so....the RX-1 was a great deal..regardless of its weight!

Anyhow...thanks for the comments!
