Does anodizing make aluminum brittle?

Bent my anodized rails on the weekend just a little bit. Tried to straighten with a press today and the one snapped with very little pressure. Just wondered if the anodizing process makes them brittle. Thanks

Nope, anodizing is just a conversion coating of the aluminum and only affects the first few thou of the surface.

Aluminum once strected (bent) won't recompress when you bend it back, it just breaks. Different aluminum types will vary of course.

x2 bending rails back into place never works, i seen it tried too many times, best bet with bent rails is reinforce to prevent further bending.
