Dobeck troubles

Dobeck

Installed a Dobeck Gen 4 on my KTM 450 xcf. So far totally happy with everything including the custom service. The Mid speed and wide open fuel settings were basically onetime adjustment. I did richen the wide open a touch after riding for couple days and think it feels more torquey pulling to top end RPM. The idle and slow speed took some fooling around. Was running pig fat and would lean it a few point and ended up way lean. Then try rich up and end up way fat again. Couldn’t seem to zero in on 12 – 12.5 afr. So after going back and forth a few times I made a huge lean out adjustment and rode a short distance. When I stopped the bike would barely stay idling and was around 15 afr. Adjusted down again to 12.5 and it was good for the rest of the day. Kept a close eye on gauge and readings stayed consistent. It seems the turning point was the exhaust and engine temps. Possibly the o2 sensor may not have been giving solid readings while running rich and cool. With a thermo bob and engine shrouded temps ranged from 130 -160c while rich. After zeroing in on the low speed idle afr setting temps stabilized at 165C +5/-5 from idle to wfo. Purchased controller direct from Dobeck. No nos.

I'm not having any problems with my 2013 Husaberg FE501 and I just bolted it on. didn't change or adjust any thing. I think it's just a few bikes that don't come with a battery are having problems.

For the guys that are having problems what year, make and model is you bike?

No it is the bikes with battery that are having problems with power to the sensor. But they have come up with a solution that works on my 2015 Husky 501 FE. Dobeck has been very good about addressing this issue and getting it fixed correctly.

Yes... guys make sure you call Dobeck with controller questions and IceAge with NOS or solenoid questions. Remember, they don't know there is a problem until someone reports it. Both are great companies who want to take care of their customers and I try to do anything I can to help as well.

I've helped a few guys work through their problems over the phone. Feel free to PM me if you can't get any help going the other routes.

Clutch pull deaths on mine FC520, with TSS intake I attributed to snow on my pipe steaming sucking into the intake. I shortened the elbow slightly which moved pod away from pipe, and wrapped my pipe through the air box.

Yep I'm going to be changing my intake around when I get my bike back next week. I was having the same problem and just attributed it to ULTRA deep powder early rides. That intake gets pretty icy and then the bike just runs pig rich for the rest of the day. Sucks.
