Do the new style "HD" fork clamps come with a new kit or only when you get the TSS full kit? My question is if I got a '16 ST and a TSS do i buy the TSS full kit or rear shock only? Am i right that the HD fork clamps bump the price by 200 clams:face-icon-small-con

Thanks!

Hmmmm

I see 15 people have read this with no answer so i don't feel like a complete dumba$$! Here's a screenshot of the website..

Got an answer from my dealer...

So the quick and dirty is if you buy a new kit you need the one with clamps. I forgot that the regular fit kit is strut rod, spacers, AND fork clamps:face-icon-small-dis. If you are upgrading an old kit you just need the rear shock as you already have fork clamps that came with your standard "fit kit".

my understanding is this. If you buy the $900 kit you get all the TSS and parts, but no front clamps/spacers. perfect for the guy that already has a setup up for his bike.

If you have new bike, you buy the $1100 TSS full kit and it comes with everything for the TSS plus the full fit kit parts need for the front end.

Since i got a new bike, i had to buy the $1100 kit even though i have the other parts lying around. they wouldn't quite fit. :face-icon-small-con

The good news is that the new clamps are now better and more heavy duty, so that's a bonus and makes me feel a tiny bit better about spending the extra $200.

New clamps are better

I'm upgrading my '14 kit to tss and need to get the new clamps. Apparently what is happening to a fair amount of guys, me included, is the old clamps dent your fork tubes if/when you smash a hidden log or cross ditch or something. That is why the new clamps have rubber inserts, to try to mitigate this issue. I smashed a hidden cross ditch early season last year and ended up with two large indents in my fork tubes and bent my clamps. Kind of bent them back and rode with dented fork tubes all season and didn't have any other problems. But its a real pain trying to line up my bent clamps with my also bent spindle, so I have to order the new upgraded clamps, which will also hopefully not dent my fork tubes again when I inevitabley smash another early season hidden shark fin or log or something.
