Do I really need to do anything when I store my sleds for the season?

I just put the sleds up for the summer. They are in an enclosed garage. Do I need really need to do anything to them? I have had sleds over the years and I usually didn't do any summer storage prep to them. I never seem to have any problem when I start them up in the fall.

Throw some fuel stablizer in there, wd-40 anything that you think might rust over the summer and call it good. Well unless your me, then you tinker on it all summer.

modern gas goes bad in less than a month, I use stabil in anything that will sit for more than a week

I don't even trust the stabil in the new gas. I drain my tank down a dump in a gallon of avation fuel or race gas and run the moter until it purges the system. Those fuels don't go bad.

Give it a good check over and repair anything that needs fixing. Change your drive fluid, grease it, clean the clutches, leave the belt off and loosen the track. I personally have had very poor results using stabil. and I don't fog the engine. I use my sled tank as a fuel storage for my lawn mower and keep sputting new fuel in and taking it back out for the mower. I run my sleds every 3 or 4 weeks until they are warm. I realize some put theirs in storage and don't look at them until it is time to go riding next winter but for me, running new fuel through them every month works well.

This is a good time to change the oil in the diamond drive. You don't want moisture sitting in there all summer on exposed bearings. Might save you a headache next year.:light:

My dad and I always dump a little SEA-FOAM in the tanks at the end of the season. It cleans fuel and the carbs very well, we use it on everything.

Sea foam is also an excellent fuel stabilizer and water dispersent..it is the only thing I use in any of my vehicles....sleds, cars/trucks/bikes/mowers....it also is about the best fuel system cleaner out there as well........
