DNR Cops are on the trails

We got checked for current tabs on our sleds while riding out Ahtanum on Saturday. So instead of having a cop check everyone's tabs as they enter or leave the main road or parking lot, now there is 4 cops riding snowmobiles, checking the few people they encounter on or near a main trail. Great use of taxpayer money.

Dont know if you have ever been to autanum but pretty much nowhere to unload except the main snow park unless your a cabin owner. I agree it is a total waste paying them to ride around up there and check a few people when they could set in the snowpark and check everyone. Its no wonder why this flippin state has no money, how much do you think it cost to pay 3 or 4 guys to ride around on snowmobiles all day? I bet it is tons more than they made writing tickets, if they even wrote a ticket! WHAT A WASTE!!!!!!!!:face-icon-small-fro

You could have 3 different agencys doing the same thing, like we do here in Colorado.

They still have to drive there trucks just as far, along with pull a trailer full of sleds now. Then you add the gas and oil in the sleds and the fact that now they have to have multiple guys at the same location for safety instead of paying one guy and diversifying between locations. Total joke if you ask me.

dont really care, they will write far more tickets out on the trail than in the park, this has been proven in the past and will continual, that way.............it has been that way for years and will continual till we ether make the tickets so high that they are hurt real good in the pocket book,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, or they learn......................

A lot of the area is DNR land so maybe they are doing more than just writing tickets while they are up there. They wanted money to manage the area in the winter and the Discover Pass provided the means. The SkiBenders were getting tired of trying to raise money to keep the area open.

If the area was closed for the winter due to lack of funds then that would be a lot bigger WASTE than them out doing their jobs. Everyone is still able to use the area. Just enjoy it and be thankful a solution for the time being has been found to keep the area open.

(OUR STATES MANAGEMENT OF MONEY SUCKS) thanks sunbather, somebody finally agrees with me. Im not saying we should pay less to support our recreation areas, and I am very thankful to be able to use the areas we do but just tired of our fine officials WASTING money. I am willing to pay more to keep areas open as long as I know that 100% of the money is going to what is intended on and not wasted away or given to other entities.

Their wages are paid wether they are riding snowmobiles, driving trucks, doing paperwork or sittin in the outhouse. Not only are they doing registration enforcement, they can also catch some other things, like excessive drinking, littering etc. that they couldn't sitting in the snopark. Plus they are already up on the hill in case something goes wrong. Good on 'em...glad to see 'em doin' their job. That's what we pay them to do......their job.

Not to mention, they need to make sure that people are paying their tabs. That's lost grooming revenue.
