It has finally come to an end! The thief was cuffed and stuff today!!!:face-icon-small-win

He will be spending some time in Heber jail and has to pay in full $3795 restitution to both Aaron and I before he pays court fees and state fines for being a complete piece of trash!:yell:

Judge said he agreed 100% with me that Douglas Unthank was a professional at this type of crime and that he would likely repeat the crimes if not taught a lesson with some jail time!:yell: And he will impose the max sentence.

Bailiff slapped the cuffs on him immediately and took him into custody to serve a full 180 days!:face-icon-small-ton

WOOW HOOW!!!!:face-icon-small-hap FINALLY! JUSTICE!

Glad I didnt resort to beating the crap out of the guy and winding up in jail myself! :face-icon-small-hap

Good to hear Tim.
Justice is slow and full of holes but great to hear about when it actually works.

Congrats on getting him off the street and where he belongs. :face-icon-small-win

Only problem now is he'll be released as a better educated criminal.:mmph:

It worked because Tim did all the work, other then the Judge today he has got little to no help from law enforcment or the prosecutors.:face-icon-small-dis

Oh and I'm not sure if the heber jail will be a place for higher criminal learning.:face-icon-small-win Most likely all he'll come out of there with is a staph infection.

For the ignorant peeps like me, Whats the back story on this?

On April 24th last year Aaron and I went up to Heber to go snowmobiling and as we gassed up there was a Lt.Blue 70's luv bug cruising around and we said to each other, "he must be lost!" as he had circled the gas stations block two or three times.

We drove up the dirt road to the snow and parked, unloaded and took off. Rode all day and hung out around a fire for a few beers. When we got back to the truck, Aaron immediately said "Oh Fawk ME!" as he opened the truck door the dome light popped on and I could see what he was cussing for!

Truck and trailer were empty! Cleaned out! The thief had use the hide-a-key to open the truck and piled everything into your gear bags and took off! He left us the key to the truck and that was it!

Aaron had his cell in his pocket luckily! as everything else was gone! We called the Cops and made a report. Cops said your stuff is gone and the chances of finding this thief was ZERO! Move on and lock up your stuff better next time.

Long story made sort! I tracked him down by a description of a car from a store clerk. Lt.Blue 70's bug! With help from a friend of a Orem Cop, I found the bug and watched him for a few days till I was convinced this WAS THE GUY! I called the Heber Cops and told them I had found the guy in Orem a mile from my house!

Cops took there sweet time arresting him and found none of our stuff by that time but had a store clerk that positively ID'd him as the guy using my credit card to buy smokes! So off to court, not jail! One year and 6 court hearings later! FINALLY BUSTED!

Congratulations! Sorry it took so long but, being diligent paid off.....to a point. I do wish for you that you did get a chance to make him bleed a quart or so before you gave to the authorities. Hell, he deserves it and yes, it would make many of us feel even better! :p

Happy 4th! :usa:

Helluva job! Nice work. Sounds like you have 180 days to beef up and think of a good way to kick his *** without leaving any evidence it was you that did it!! ;)

WAY TO GO TIM! Me and dub did some investigating on my chit...nada. Im glad you could at least watch the long arm of the law throw his a## in the clink!

Ron whats that green pos on your trailer?

LMAO. Glad it all turned out well. Gotta love that speedy trial system.:yell:

Awesome! Seriously, in cases like this there is a 99% chance the theif gets away with it. Good thing you stuck to it.

Multiple Heber Cops laughed at me when I told them "I will find this guy and his blue bug!". The Police Chief laughed and said "Do you know how many blue bugs there are in Utah?" "No way in heck youll find him!" "Move on with your life." he say's!

I told the Chief "There aint that many blue bugs that cruise MidWay, Utah!" "I will find this douche bag!"

I Photoshopped a bug to look like the one we'd seen casing us out at the gas station, and two weeks later my brother see's it on 8th north in Orem and got the license number off it!

Thats all it took! Oh and a Cop that gives you the house address off a license plate! so you can stock the dirt bag!

If I had left it up to the Heber Cops, there is a 1000% chance the thief would have got a away with it. They were too fat and lazy to lift a finger! They are also as crooked as the thieves them selves! Can you say "Dirty Cops!"?

Nice work Tim! Glad to see a positive outcome. I am with you, I don't trust these Heber City cops at all.

I'm glad to hear you got a little justice. I've been through this as well and from my experience you shouldn't get your hopes up on collecting anything in damages.

You know what the say about getting blood from a turnip after all.
