hey there i have an 07 m8 with a new twisted race setup. i also put fresh pistons and cylinders on it. i have run apv oil up until now(1800 miles). i was thinking of switching my premix oil to redline snowmobile oil. but i was told you can hurt your crank by switching oils on a michine that has run something else? any thaughts on this? also whats a good premix ratio for breakin on my setup? thanks you

I have probably about 4000-4500 miles on my twisted and cutler race gas sleds running all the way to 18lbs using only arctic cat apv premix on the twisted and injected on the cutler. No problems here. 40:1 is what I have run from brand new 0 miles on all. I do dump a little extra in the tank on the cutler sled.

apv all the way for me, 40:1 and no issues, Shain has had way more turbo sleds apart than any one of us and if he says it works i will take that to the bank

If thats what you want to run then run it its not gonna burn your sled down or anything. Just an FYI If you do some research instead of here say then you might learn that there is better oil to run.
 
run the redline..its a great oil...BUT..if you are breaking in new rings etc run a straight petroleum 2 cycle (no synthetics)..just for the break in..
 
redline and klotz are great oil , it is not a good idea to switch oil at any point if you do I recomend redline, there are no problems using apv oil to premix.
I have done my research to the tune of over 50,000 miles on m turbo sleds, on my arzz alone.
 
Lets say you've been riding turbo M sleds for 4 years.... You put 12,500 miles on every year?!?!?!?! You would have to ride over 62 miles for 200 days each season!!! Lets be realistic. How does it hurt to change oils? Have you hurt any motors switching oils?
 
it does not hurt to change oil if your going to dont mix drain your oil tank if you have one and replace dont add and use a good oil cat is not going to put an oil on the market that will cause an engine failure ive spoke with several oil reps about it i myself run redline other oils do therte rd testing like blue marble on leaf blowers sure they are a 2 stroke but come on ive also seen blue marble seperate the oil and the additives if it sits for a while ask yourself how much money did they put in to R&D redline ask any stock car racer what they run JMHO

I have been riding turbo ms for 2006 season and there was a period in that season that I rode 32 days straight I have rode 2 times this week and im going in the morning,and plan on going sunday too,last season I spent close too 20,000.00 in race fuel sold less than ten barrles thats alot of miles If you would like to fallow me around and count them up you are welcome as I can not keep track.
yes I have hurt motors switching oils.
but not when switching to redline,apv or polaris gold ,or skidoo oil.
lets just say those are the oils I have not had problems with as not to bash other oil companies.
as for the miles rode that was a conserveitve number I have had 5 m7 turbos 2 m1000 turbos 3 m1200 turbos 2 m8 turbos 1 dragon turbo just my personal sleds almost half of my days are spent on someone eleses turbo and not my own lets put it this way if I ride the same sled all year it is not worth selling at the end of the year so I have at least 2 and they get rode about equal.
