difference between vector and nytro motors?

The Nytro engine weighs considerably less!

how could that be? these engines only have a cam change. I've compared all the part numbers and they are identical for the two sleds except for the cam and the valve springs. The Vector is a heaver sled overall but it's not because of the motor. Where did you get your information?

MAYBE THE WEIGHT DIFERANCE IS IN THE CRANKSHAFT, BECAUSE THEYARE NOT THE SAME CRANK.

The 2010 Vector FI motor is identical to the the FX Nytro motor except for the cam and valve springs. Same head, block, piston, rings, valves.......

My first comments specified that I was talking about the FI motor not the carb'd engine. The carb'd vector engine has had several revisions to the crankshaft since 05. I think there were 3 or 4 different part numbers but I'm not sure what was changed or why they made the changes.

The carb'd engines are very reliable and have had very few problems (except for the 05-07 tensioner problem). I own a 05 carb'd Vector and a FX Nytro. The Vector is a little heavier than the Nytro but has a faster top end and gets 3-4 more miles per gallon. The FI Nytro engine has a better low end and will definitely out pull the Vector in short distances. I've taken the new Vector FI sled out a few times at demo rides and it's a big improvement over the previous engine. The throttle response is great and although it doesn't have the torque that the Nytro has it definitely is an improvement. Now that the Vector has a FI engine I'm seriously thinking about dumping my Nytro for the Vector LTX GT.
